How to say... Don't work there. There is something wrong in the company's culture and basically they are exploiting the new immigrants. Too high pressures with too low payments.

They mention occasional overtime in the contract however expect to be doing 45 to 50 hours a week. Management does not give much attention to mental health of employees.

Management lacks direction and does not care for employees.

Everybody show off the position they are on. Not concerned with employee skill enhancement or growth. How much ever effort you put in, the management does not recognise it.

Employees at the bottom level are not treated with dignity.

Long hours are typically expected; initiatives are not communicated effectively; toxic leadership with little regard for teams wellbeing.
A lot depends on which team you land in, due to inconsistent leadership - with little accountability and transparency at the SVP level and above.

Its a good place for those who have just finished university and are looking for a place to start. Salary is below average and management do not seem to have an idea of what they are doing.

- People work Overtime until midnight just to show they are working...not actually to do work. Makes the rest of the employees who want to leave on time look bad. NO work life balance supported by the company
- Management does not work to support you in anyway, rather they simply give up on you
- Job itself was boring, repetitive
- People switch many times back and forth to this company for career progression because in-house progression to top levels is rare if you dont do this

- make you bill 7.5 hours a day even though you work 8 hours a day

- H.R is non-existent and doesnt care about you

- Seniority is HUGE, new individuals dont get any recognition or perks of the job, this includes trust of the management to complete your work. seniors will not work while juniors do everything and seniors do not face reprimand.

- If you try to take the vacation you are ENTITLED to, your manager WILL give you a hard time about it.
Pros
At least you're working downtown and can network for OTHER jobs
Cons
Low Pay, Long Hours, Poor management

I was contracted as a Senior and all I did there was copy & paste, downloading statements. I felt the guys there were doubling the work just to get over time. They were working past 8pm almost every day. Alcohol was allowed after 5pm so those guys were drinking alcohol and doing the cash rec, no wonder payments were going to the wrong place, missing payments and all. A lot of Asians working there, a lot of recent grads working there, I didn't like the culture a bit and the reason why I left was the toxic culture, the little communities based on nationality. Citco in Toronto, wasn't for me, the training was rubbish, they teach once & give no time to take notes and they expect you to do the job right away, without much supervision. Citco Toronto was rather disappointing & as a female workers and I felt the pressure and disrespect, it's just that some races don't respect females at all!

Good place to start your career, however, if you are experienced then it's advisable that do not apply at Citco. There's no work life balance and many times upper management is completely unaware about the situation on the floor. Managers and VP are strongly knitted and hardly listen to the employees and often tries to resolve the matters by themselves which results in constant shifting from one team to another. Expect to work 48+ hours a week which could be a big issue if you are not living in downtown. There's very little growth opportunity and a lot of times the right people do not get promoted due to favourism. The work and salary is not very competitive when compared to the the competitors. If you like to party hard then this could be a good place though as they have quarterly parties with free booze. The parties are pretty wild. Also, they provide free beer after 5, and unlimited supply of fizzy drinks and juices.

If you have a Yes Sir attitude, then you may have a better prospect to get promoted to senior or supervisor position. The managers, VP and the upper management only cares about their year end bonus even if it means great discomfort to the people working below them. A lot of times, management will promise promotions but it never happens and they promote their favourites or hire externally which greatly affects the morale. I have seen 3 cases with in a year where people left simply because they were promised a position and at the last moment someone else was promoted or Hired. Teams issues are never heard and communication never reaches the upper management.

Pros
Free ice cream and break fast, quarterly Team Outings.
Cons
Very long hours, OT is paid as month end bonus (heavy tax implications), poor management, heavy micro management, and unrealistic expectations

Good group to work with. Salary fair, benefit fair, vacation days less than industry average. Less over time than before, management try to control overtime this year.

Citco has a high turn over rate due to company mismanagement and poor team management. They continue to promote people based on technical skills and not leadership skills. Typical work week is 50+ Hours and most people do not take breaks. Upper management knows this and does nothing to change the culture or create positive change.
Pros
good benefits, good number of vacation days
Cons
no breaks, long hours, no career advancement

Management needs to take employee retention seriously. Top retention of management is significantly higher while they continuously lose lower level employees.

Citco has the worst management style. If you are looking for a job that provides you with an opportunity to progress.. do not apply here. The working environment is extremely toxic.

The overall culture is great at Citco. The management could use training in succession planning. There is too much overtime by some and none for others.

- No training program as the head trainer quit
- Have to rely on co workers to train you which they are not experienced in doing so.

- Lack of management skills (reason for very high turnover rate)
- People working there for 4-5 years, still in the same position
- Currently short staffed because of such high turnover and lack of hirings which results in you taking on other funds outside of your team

- Workload is at 150% because of employee shortages.
Pros
free beer after 5pm, good benefits package
Cons
long hours/life-work balance is lacking/chances of promotion are slim

Daily work consisted of answering e-mails, reviewing work completed by the team and supporting departments, and discussing progress with the management team. The challenge often is dealing with turnover, and training replacements as the come in. Depending on the team, the experience could differ, but there are resources available to answer questions.
Pros
Work perks - monthly cake, breakfast

There was a daily quota to meet. Once met, the rest of the day can be treated as free time.

Management was very strict and un-supportive to staff.

Work hard in the beginning to breeze through the rest of the day.

There is no work/life balances at all, it is pure stress and no job security. It is not bad as a entry level job, but the turn over rate is the highest in the industry

I worked here for 2 years. Overall less than positive experience. The benefits and salary are competitive. The work is can be tedious or monotonous. Very process driven and segregated. Regular follow ups and performance evaluations. All tasks well done can go out the window in light of small mistakes. All work is very monitored. During busy times can be expected to work overtime. Very young management, can be a good and bad thing. Must play politics to advance. Little job security, can be put on probation or asked to leave any time (happened to 6 co workers while i was there). Good for getting your foot in the door, NOT a long term career choice.
Pros
free beers, good benefits
Cons
management, too much surveillance
