Overall I enjoy working at Chrysalis. The staff are very diverse caring people with great intentions and big hearts.Front line teams are incredible, managers are supportive and generally available.Anything you are not Trained in they will provide resources and training or supports to get you to a place that you feel confident to do the work. However it is on you to voice if you feel you need more training.I can not really speak about the upper management as i have only had brief interactions with them. They are able to attend some of the staff meetings but otherwise most of the communication between front line staff and upper management is done by Team Leads. My personal interactions with the CEO and other upper management team members have all been very positive. The overall community and workplace atmosphere are very positive and the individuals who we support are very wonderful people. Teamwork is amazing, if you're having an off day your coworkers have you covered!Wages are lower than other companies in the sector, there is not a payscale or regular raise schedule. There are bennifits but they are not the best and some prefer going through blue cross or a similar service.Management treats people as people, open honest communication about burnout and changes to work life or time off is strongly encouraged but staff must be able to self advocate when these things come up.If you are interested in developing skills to support individuals with disabilities Chrysalis is an amazing place to start, they will encourage growth and development and build on whatever -

Pros

Regular schedule. Weekends off. PTO and bennifits package. Strong team atmosphere.

Cons

Wages. Lack of insensitive for employees to be high performing.

Thank you so much for comments. Lots of great points raised and concerns that are valid. We hope to improve in these areas now that we have a full HR staff to help move some of those concerns forward.

Don't Waste your time...

Where to start...This place was very promising, when you first start, staff and upper management make you feel welcomed and heard. However this doesn't last long. They change your job description constantly and then gaslight you into thinking it was always this way and make you think you can't handle change. If you bring up concerns your TL's and Coordinator take it personally and reprimand you for it, so it is best to keep your mouth shut and your thoughts to yourself. However they will have meetings twice a year to discuss all the things going wrong and how to change without actually changing anything just to make themselves feel accomplished in something.Every department has their own clique here. Coordinators and certain TL's will talk about their staff behind their backs, and even go as far as to call their staff "degenerates" and laugh about it. One Coordinator will go as far as to steal your ideas and present them as their own because they don't know how to do their own job without you. Another Coordinator will force their religion upon you in their office if you are having a tough day by praying over you without your consent. New staff are hired based off of who they know, and not their skillset. You can have any education in the field, no one will allow you to show your skills at work, you are stuck within the limits of the title you have and if you step out of it you are made to feel like you have done something wrong, even if your skill benefits the company. Unless it makes your TL & Coordinator look good. There are never opportunities to grow. Workplace culture -

Pros

People Accessing Service

Cons

Everything else.

People we support are wonderful and management is supportive

I have been working at Chrysalis for just over a year and have had a great experience so far. Management is easy to talk to and is very supportive. The people we support are always put first and staff are treated with respect and that our opinions matter. I look forward to working here for many more years to come.

Thank you for sharing your experience. If ever you feel that something is not going well, we hope you will reach out to your manager or HR as we are all here to support.

Creative, stressful, hardworking environment

Be prepared to have your job description changed at any moment without notice. Be flexible. Be ready to have a pile of responsibilities added to your plate beyond what you originally signed up for without a pay increase. You will be directed often, changes happen constantly and no one will ask for your opinion. You will be stretched to your limits some days but if you drop the ball you will be questioned, sometimes bullied and blamed. Professionalism is not their strength and upper management are very insecure and are not held accountable. Blame is passed down the chain frequently. This place is a family to some but not everyone. Vacation and job opportunities come to the favorites first. They often say one thing but do another. They promote work life balance but you are entitled to 3 weeks vacation only and 2 weeks personal time, not nearly enough for the respite most need from this line of work. There is not enough funding, too few staff and very little pay. Too many people need a second job to make ends meet. Even though we are encouraged to self advocate, too few people will do so and instead are disgruntled in private. When others are brave enough to speak up, it can often fall on deaf ears. I am impressed by most front line staff and the teamwork, however, often the same people sit back and let the hard workers continue to carry them and fill the needs of the place. There is a high burn out rate in this place. Everyone is expendable. As negative as I sound, I still love my job and find a deep satisfaction working there. I would like to see front line staff be given -

Pros

creative environment, awesome team spirit, friendly people

Cons

Overworked, underpaid, little benefits, little job security, poor management presence

a meaningful job

- It was a really meaningful job for me by helping individuals with developmental disabilities. - I had a good experience working there, with nice individuals & colleagues. - Huge amounts of training are offered.- The interviews were not very straightforward, especially the group interviews were too stressful- The lack of job advancement for some positions and people.-Sometimes a stressful job which I think it is the nature of these kinds of jobs.

Pros

standard weekdays hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm)

Cons

no job security
