Chronically understaffed. Low pay despite promises for raises. Expect to work hard for little reward. Management has favourites & can't be trusted. Head Office acts like they care, but only care about bringing in money.

Terrible management- nice residents

Not a healthy environment to work in. Toxic. No room for advancement, general manager says “ feedback is so important” but doesn’t do anything when you do give constructive feedback. Often times recreation is cancelled for the residents, just a lack of care. Most enjoyable part of this job is the residents.

Just from working there about 2 weeks, I was told they swapped person about 14 times in roughly two months from how bad it is. They don't have the proper tools for the amount of dishes that come in and the boss isn't exactly respectfull. At one point I ended up being alone to do the whole job and I didn't have time to take a break anymore, always did overtime too because I was overwhelmed and had no choice.The fact I did overtime pissed off the boss so he ended up coming to work with me to I guess ''show me how to be more efficient''.After that day I got sick of it and left right away.I know 2 other people who went to work there and they also didn't stay that long for similar reasons.

It was good at first

A lot of workload as a cook and can barely take a break , the residents were the part of the job. Some co-workers are extremely toxic instead of helping they will do whatever it takes to get you fired. I don't recommend to work in this place.

Amazing workplace to be at

I started the leasing consultant job about 3 months ago and the only thing is can say is I’m impressed. It’s the first time that I set foot in a retirement home and the more time I spend here, the more I realize I had a totally different view of what a retirement residence actually is.The management is really working for the residents as much as they are present for their employees.

Entreprise avec une vision ontarienne. Milieu de vie agréable avec les personnes âgées. Ambiance agréable. Tout dépend des gestionnaires sur places. Avantageux si fait partie de l’équipe cadre sinon salaire et avantages moins intéressant. Doivent revoir la formation et l’accompagnement.

toxic workplace

Housekeeping Attendant (Former Employee) - chart well oakville - 16 June 2023

Some days are better than others. PSWS and activity/recreational aide workers were rude and disrespect to housekeepers/laundry workers.They don't treat you properly at times.Mangement was decent,but be prepared to work odd and back to back shifts due to staffing shortages.Alot of people coming and out, no sense of job security. A lot of unnecessary drama and gossip,employees complaining to higher ups about co workers on a daily.They did do a lot of staff appreciation lunches tho. Pay is decent and you can collect benefits after your prohibition period. Would recommend if you don't have any other options available.

Chartwell is a great place to start in retirement and you can move up to a management position if you prove yourself. However, the pay for managers and the expectations isn't fair, you are expected to be constantly on call for your department. Chartwell has improved and has become more modern with the times in terms of technology and updates to its buildings.

I loved my residents and the job, just wasn’t satisfied how it was run

La direction générale ne vérifie pas le travail effectué ni ne s assure de relever ce que la direction des soins améliore, sur le département.Pas de vérification de gestion. Laisse la personne en poste, se débrouiller seule à son arrivée. Aucune présence n est effectuée sur le département.Aucun suivi téléphonique ne serait-ce qu' hebdomadaire par la directrice regionaleAucun support ni aucune présence de la directrice régionale.Fais son suivi par les oui-dire et ne se questionne pas si sa directrice de soins a besoin d' aide.Manque totalement de support de la direction.
