Upper management is unhelpful. They treat employees very unfair. They don’t appreciate hard work or good sales. Wages are unfair and you get no benefits when you’re a manager. Hours are very bad too. Communication with head office is brutal they say to do one thing and when you do it they say it’s wrong. Most of the times the sales in store are better than the employee discount. Makes us feel unappreciated.
Management and pay
Working for this company you will experience high anxiety and stress, your position will be taken from right under you without anything being discussed (This is not only on a retail staff specific incident, this happens throughout the company including in Head office) The "District Manager" will post your position on indeed without your knowledge and then tell you "Oh its for a ___(blank position)_____, Im not replacing you." and then when the person comes in to bring their resume in store they apply for your said position. They have such a high turn over due to poor management and the CEO not caring about the safety of his staff. They sweep IMPORTANT matters under the rug and HR claims because they think that staff are disposable and care more about saving people who are creeps.Their "District Manager" has no DM background. She does not dress appropriately for her role and gives MASSIVE attitude towards the staff and makes them feel uncomfortable. She does not believe in promoting from within and doesn't give people with seniority in the company a chance to grow. She has no knowledge of the company and products as she has never worked in an actual store before and doesn't even know how to cash out a client. She has stolen all "policies" and "paperwork" from her previous position as a Store Manager and implemented it for this place of work and even forgot to remove the old company name from the documents. She has even gone as far as firing people on a stress leave, and anyone with any sort of mental health issues that became known to her. Dont waste your time applying - more...
Upper management likes to think they are leaders in the industry when they are actually dictators to their staff. Not only are they so disorganized that they do not have a solid sale strategy ( product prices would change in the middle of the day, but if you used the email during selling hours you will be written up) they have a district manager who is only there as a middle man between head office and the retail locations minimal communication is made to ensure the store runs smoothly and even when you do go above and beyond it is not recognized
Unorganized, no opportunity for advancement, in considerate upper management
A typical day at work involves walking into a filthy office, with dust and candle chemicals in the air, and a manager that slams dishes around when in a bad mood. It is then followed by endless, pointless meetings that go off-topic every day, and a lack of structure. Management uses texting instead of one stream of communication like email, which causes a lot of conflicts, and they will message you often at night off-work hours to tell you that you made a mistake on something that could wait until the next morning. There is no HR department; there is no strong leadership. It was a confusing and frustrating experience. There is no safe place to voice your concern, and they will lie to you. The hardest part of the job is the culture and disorganization, lack of trust, and employee complaints. The most enjoyable part of the job was the ability to work from home. I learned that without a strong leader and defined roles, for me, it is complicated to navigate this kind of environment.
downtown, work from home
being texted constantly, terrible culture, bad management.
The management of this company is terrible. There is too much drama that goes on within head office, the district manager, and the chief of operations. The mentality that these people have is so unprofessional and childish. They violate so many labour laws in their workplace and don’t take anything employees say seriously when we voice our concerns. The security cameras they have installed in the store and in their backroom records audio and everyone in head office and all the managers listen to employees private conversations without consent. This is illegal and no employee was officially asked if they consented to the recording of audio. Employees have expressed their discomfort about this and we were ignored. This company is by far the worst company I have ever worked with.
The work environment at Charmed Aroma allowed me as an employee to collaborate with the customers while assisting them in finding their desired item.
The overall flow of the work environment at Charmed Aroma was consistent, with its occasional busy days and rush hours. As an employee working for this company, I was given the opportunity to expand my collaboration skills, as well as how to value the needs of the customers, through the teachings of my managers. I was fortunate enough to be able to sell and share the concept of a brand that fabricates products of personal interest. This is not a commission-based job, but instead an hourly- paying one. I would recommend this job as a stepping stone; a chance to build your experience in understanding and representing a brand, while assisting and collaborating with customers.
