AdmisrwthMy first experience working in shaft sinking. Exciting and sometimes overwhelming.. Experienced shaft sinkers need to be willing mentors
My typical day depended on what part of the cycle our crew was on. I worked only nights and afternoon shift because that was drill blast shift, and mucking cycle. Changing bale for 3 bucket mucking system forces all crewmembers to work as a cohesive unit. Follow the claim mans instructions while working on bench is extremely important and, under no circumstances be broken.
Cementation is the top rated shaft contractor in tb world
High stress environment on times so healthy communication lines betwween is extremely important
A lot of rework because of poor planning and the old guys treat the young guys like they are idiots. Very stressful having to redo work over and over. I really hope it was just the one project that I had issues with because I’ve heard good things about their other projects .
Good coworkers, camp was nice
Bonus, management, disorganized
I was offered the opportunity to work at Cementation’s Flag ship project a few years back, we had a great team of qualified professionals that interacted well with company representatives. I would highly recommend Cementation for an employer of choice for genuine work challenge and opportunity
- underground mine in Nunavut - amazing scenery year round - good camp, not great - food was incredible - 3/3 rotation - I'd go back to Cementation anytime
Great people, incredible site, perfect shift
Not enough FIFO for electricians

travel on your time off
I enjoyed the challenge of being prepared for any situation, to be placed virtually anywhere and learn something new.
10.5 hr shifts. Co-workers and management were great for support in prioritizing work, encouraging team work and mental strength as a unit. Good co-workers, very brother oriented.
