Great co-workers but lousy wages.
Guest Service representative (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC5 January 2020
Fellow staff members were fun to work with. Management level were mostly great and would respond to concerns.
Company pays minimum wage preferably no matter how long you have worked for them.
It is alright if you are a student but for family people they do not pay cost of living wages.

Thanks for the great review! We really value teamwork at Gateway, and are glad to hear that you have so much fun working together with your team. The extra perks working at Gateway really are awesome as well - benefits, vacation time and even discounts for employees!

Tables Dealer/Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC2 October 2019
Always felt watched at the place. That’s the nature of the place I guess but when u’r a minority they need to do better. Terrible work-life balance, bad pay, customer tips make up the difference

Full-time Tables Dealer (Current Employee) –  Kamloops, BC8 April 2019
Upper management has cut shifts extensively for front-line employees since the 2018 strike. Excellent health & dental benefits if you can get the hours to qualify, but wages are below industry standard and tips are fairly low. Constantly on your feet and high risk of repeated motion injuries. High Turnover. Union (BCGEU).

Restaurant General Manager (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC18 August 2018
I worked long hours with the primary focus on repairing the culture.

It was a high energy place with a great amount of potential for everyone.

F&B Service (Former Employee) –  Penticton, BC23 March 2018
This company needs some time to develop training and orientation programs.
You'll get the basics at best. You'll never understand the policies and the service money just isn't there but the coupons sure are.
Working in a union is difficult at best as there is a strange balance between Management and Union.
Maybe this will be a good place to work in a few years, but for now, any other place is better.
Pros
Getting off work
Cons
Watching people lose money and lack of normal service world standards

Gaming Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Langley, BC21 March 2018
A company with lots of different job opportunities with limited skillset requirement. Great for people who are looking for shift work or compressed work week. Upper management has a class divide with the non-management staff. Interdepartmental issues. Below average wage scale.

Cage supervisor (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC15 March 2018
I started as a Cashier when the casino first opened and eventually moved up to cage supervisor. I loved the job when I was just a cashier but made the mistake of moving up to management. The management is horrible no one is on the same page and HR is useless and doesn't represent the employees at all. Management bullies employees and gossips behind everyone's back very unproffessional. I highly recommend staying away from this casino you will not like it.

Management leads with terrific positivity in a challenging hiring environment
Table Games Dealer & Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Kamloops, BC6 January 2018
Work is service based so there is no take-home concerns.
Supervisors are kind, knowledgeable.
Standing at the tables to deal can be physically challenging for an 8 hour shift.
The patrons are unusually friendly for the type of work environment that it is but understandable in a smaller market venue.
Pros
flexible scheduling
Cons
late nights

Count Team Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Langley, BC1 January 2018
I enjoy working with most of the employees, however there is a high turn around due to a lack of advancement opportunity. The workplace offers a variety of jobs with decent wages and benefits. Management could be better.

No room for advancement, very unprofessional management. Good for a part time job with tips they accommodate students quite well but I would not suggest trying to climb the ladder.
