Aucunes reconnaissance de l’employeur
Opérateur de machine (Former Employee) - Kingsey Falls, QC - 8 May 2022

No Job Security
General Labourer (Former Employee) - St. Marys, ON - 2 May 2022
Do yourself a favour and work for any other company in the world. Look at the reviews. They constantly fire people with no explanation other than a 'business decision' two weeks before your probation is done. There is no job security and HR is just there to protect the companies very large backside. Then when you are fired they will not communicate with the government (again HR) so there is no was to get EI. Some kind company this one is. Again, do your self a favour and go bang your head against a wall. It hurts less.

The Kitchener facility of Cascades ULC is just one facility of one of many.
Production Team Member (Current Employee) - Kitchener, ON - 24 April 2022
Think about your need for immediate work, that basic level of work will match the atmosphere of the Kitchener facility. Any desires to aspire to a respectable career, achieving progress, problem solving and reward are all overshadowed by order of seniority. Perpetual issues in the workplace include not having any employee pay-rates that are realistic to modern-day inflation rates (and more and more) are clear examples where management (from time to time) says they will try to solve but never will. Non-management employees are deprived from the hope of being treated with respect earned from the daily efforts from work quality. KPI systems are outdated, flawed, manipulated, and exploited by employees. Favouritism, protectionism, blind disregard for any improvement is reality. The types of high school drama expected to be replaced by maturity and absent in any professional workplace are rampant and govern each and every day from mid-management and down.

Terrible place to work
General Labourer (Former Employee) - St. Marys, ON - 14 April 2022
You are treated like a disposable tax generating hamster. Do not let the office pizza party in orientation fool you. They watch you through the cameras. Half the plant is new hires. Toxic company. Everyone working there lives in constant fear, and stress. The hired on employees certain one's have special privilege's, and do not follow the safety procedures. Very tight knit company. It's been 60 days, and I am still not eligible for EI compensation, as they do not communicate with the government. They also do not accommodate any learning disabilities. There is no work life balance as it is rotational 12 hour shifts.
Pros
Free food in orientation.
Cons
Long hours. Constant stress, and fear of being let go. Toxic company.

Jobs at Cascades

Press Operator (Former Employee) - St. Marys, ON - 29 March 2022
Was a hard worker, had an employee tell me what to do, that employee complained and I got let go as I was apparently not a good fit for Cascades, keep the lazy ones, fire the hard workers..makes sense doesn’t it?

Aide générale (Former Employee) - Kingsey Falls, QC - 28 March 2022
Pros
salaire
Cons
direction et communication

Nothing good to say
Cons

Hard work good pay
Laborer (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 23 March 2022
Long hours, continental shift work. Some days are brutal and some days are layed back. Summer is hotter than i ever experienced. Great pay. A long commute will mean long days with 12 hour shifts

Compagnie que je suggère pas à personne.
Cariste (Former Employee) - valleyfield, QC - 8 March 2022
Pros
45 min de dîner
Cons
Aucune sécurité d'emploi. Mauvaise gestion des employés.

People are great, job is mind rotting
Sort line worker (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 6 March 2022
They know the job on the sortline sucks so management really does try to make it worth while with pay, benefits, and a genuine sense of camaraderie, but it will still end up wearing you down. There are often job opportunities for different jobs in the plant that they hire from within, so there's lateral career movement, but not a lot in the way of upward movement. It's a solid place to work. If you just need something to pay the bills, you could do a lot worse.
Pros
Benefits, great people, fair pay
Cons
Early start time, tedious work, no upward advancement opportunities

Lack of management administration
Purchase/buyer (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 25 February 2022
Good Company, however the controller is lost on her decisions to protecting friends instead working with professionalism. The Company doesn't have a working ethical and safety environment.
Pros
Very good IT system to working
Cons
Lack of Management administration

Overall a decent company to work for. Many different roles available to suit various skill sets.
Tractor/roll-off/forklift & skidsteer operator - Class ACZ (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 23 February 2022
I really enjoyed the first ten years working out of the Etobicoke plant. The place was not perfect but we had approachable managers, a pretty good team of people (drivers/warehouse/office personnel) and fairly decent equipment for the most part--once Cascades took over the majority of the most serious equipment issues were dealt with. Pay is fairly reasonable for the amount of effort required. My decision to leave after 13+ years was not one that I was happy to make but the atmosphere began to change (not for the better) once a union and it's related politics was brought in + Covid caused a drop in hours etc and I thought it was time I moved on.
Pros
Reliable long-term employment, fairly decent equipment, decent management & coworkers
Cons
Union politics
