Good Company
Some days, I really miss working for this company. Had some very impressive pay cheques, which I am yet to match in my current job, four years later. Workload was heavy, but not overwhelming. Always had enough energy left at the end of the week to wash the truck. The job required a lot of driving skill, as the tankers consisted of one long compartment barrel (no smaller compartments with bulkheads, like fuel tankers). Consequently, the sloshing could give you back and neck pain pretty quick if you didn't learn to drive very smoothly. The chemicals they transport (sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid) are VERY bad for the health. My teeth started to crack and erode during my tenure with Caron's. Also developed a bit of a productive cough at times, even though I've never touched a cigarette. I suppose that's the trade-off. It was one I was no longer willing to make, for the sake of my health.
Pros
Very good pay and benefits. Newer, well-maintained equipment
Cons
Long work days, Away from home a lot, dangerous chemicals

Good place to work
Good dispatch and management. Well maintained equipment and well trained drivers and support staff. No pay issues and all necessary work related job training was always up to date. Scheduled days off were adhered to and you usually knew well in advance were your next load was going. Superior wash facilities that paid you for washing your own truck so no need for running dirty equipment. All in all was great place to work.
Pros
Great perks like matching RSP and healt benefits
Cons
Some favouritism

They were a GREAT Company... Can't say that any more...
2015\16 Something happened at Caron... I think they opened up to the USA market and hired new HR people... and since then MOST DRIVERS and other employees can say it has gone bad.Personally:They gave everyone a 3% cost of living raise... Then took it back months later. They laid off approx 1/3 of the drivers ( I volunteered with the understanding I was going to be hired back when it picked back up again). HR decided no...Good drivers are being let go for silly problems while others are having accidents and other problems get to stay on...
Pros
Newer trucks, lots of work
Cons
special treatment, pay structure going south, work safety is almost just a suggestion
