Terrible pay
Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 26 October 2023
Job requires post secondary education and pays an insulting amount. McDonald’s down the street is better pay. Upper management will also ignore any concerns and pretend like there isn’t a problem. Only up side is that the people in the lab are good.

Abysmal pay, poor wages, bad salary
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 20 October 2023
Not a bad stepping stone, but the pay is insulting. It could take up to 8 months to gain benefits eligibility. Raises are small and infrequent. Workplace atmosphere can be uncomfortable. The work itself is okay, although the samples are often unpleasant. Post secondary science education should absolutely be a requirement. Lots of odd jobs during lulls.
Pros
Some fun events, snacks and coffee, Pto
Cons
Horrible pay, weekend work, unpleasant odours

Great Starting Place
Sales Scientist (Current Employee) - Kelowna - 15 September 2023
Caro has some hard reviews but I honestly think it is an amazing company to work for! So many nice people and great manager who care about you. It’s a small enough company that you get to know everyone quickly and the Kelowna office has an amazing sense of community. I felt included from the day I started! Science is a tough industry but caro really tries their best to make it as welcoming and fun as they can!
Pros
Staff Parties

Really nice coworkers but too stressful
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 26 August 2023
Great place to gain some experience as a recent graduate but the work is repetitive and there are not too many opportunities to advance. Also the pay is very low and not worth the stress you are under. It can also get a bit chaotic at times since it's not a well-organized workplace. But all the people i worked with were super nice!

Fast paced
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 13 July 2023
Good and friendly coworkers. High workloads in the busier seasons which can be stressful and cause OT. Communication between departments needs improvement to reduce issues.

Good starting job
Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 24 June 2023
Good place to gain experience, you learn a variety of analysis. Good co-workers but varies by department Pay is pretty low for the amount of workload.

Terrible Workplace
Lab Technician (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 5 June 2023
Management does not care about you and will keep asking you to do tasks that are not even related to your position while paying barely above minimum wage and guilt tripping you by saying "Do it for our team!". All that hard work and you will maybe get a $10 gift card or a pizza party. They say they can not give you a raise due to the economy but have quarterly meetings stating record profits and how we should work hard.
Pros
Coworkers are nice
Cons
Management

Good for a starting job
Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 2 May 2023
Good place to gain experience. Not much there beyond that. Low pay, large volume of work. Lack of overall organisation at all levels and minimal support.

Good people
Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 27 March 2023
They are good till now. I don’t know what happen next. The important point is that they employ you as a part time employee to don’t give you benefits but you work more than a full time worker

Jobs at CARO ANALYTICAL SERVICES
Lack of management, no training, stressful work place.
Team Lead (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 2 March 2023
I don’t Recommend this work place to anyone. Two managers left in less than a year because of the high stress. Upper manager doesn’t care about the employees and schedules. Career coaching plan is a joke. Work place is mess and smelly. Smell comes form the dead animals flesh in the refrigerators and there is no spot to keep them.

Good place as a student or just graduated
Lab Technician (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 25 October 2022
Honestly depending on your department it might be chill. Prep is tiring. Great people to work with but the salary won’t cover your life. Certain teams are toxic and pray u dont work with them

Not recommended
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 6 September 2022
This lab is all about using cheap labor to squeeze them to their max. High employee turnaround at all level because no one wants to be there for long.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything

Nice people, bad hours and bad pay.
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 15 August 2022
Nice and easy going people to work with. Some days can be very busy and chaotic, and you will be expected to work overtime almost every day. Bachelor's degree is required for this job, but you will get paid the same as a 15 year old working at McDonalds, with very little room for advancement.
Pros
Relaxed easy going environment
Cons
Lots of overtime and terribly low pay

Out of touch management. Terrible pay. Constantly overworked. Chaotic environment. Although, a lot of the staff are great, hardworking and friendly.
Team Lead (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 11 February 2022
The labs are in a constant state of absolute, filthy chaos. There's virtually no workspace due to ever-growing clutter. Poor training, impossible workload, unpaid OT (for TLs) and you cannot avoid it unless you dare to fall behind. Extremely weak support. TLs will be blamed for their staff's mistakes (and they do make a lot of mistakes because they are constantly riddled with impossible deadlines and work) Very questionable training materials and many staff trained by memory of other staff instead of proper training. Documents piled in skyscrapers on empty desks with no one available to do anything about them. Samples, documents and equipment going missing all the time. Management is Terrified of "overstaffing" and "labour costs" so they run a lean, sinking ship. They prey on recent graduates who are easy to finesse into low pay and overwork. Absent upper management who have a funny delusion that their staff are "Charismatic Scientists" who are happy to be there. Easy to paint that picture when you stay cooped up in your spacious office and never visit the chaotic, dumpster-fire reality below.
Pros
Intelligent, hard-working, friendly & diverse staff
Cons
Literally everything else.

Too much work with low pay
Lab Technician (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 19 April 2021
The amount of work you do does not reflect the pay you get. It's incredibly stressful. Many employees quit after 1 year of working since its not worth the time when the pay is low. Management does not listen to you even if they say they do. Breaking promises which cause employees to quit and work somewhere else. Very difficult to internally transfer to other departments even if you have been working for years. No opportunity for growth whatsoever
Pros
Coworkers and company events
Cons
Long hours. Too many samples. Low pay. No opportunity for growth

Low pay, high demand
Laboratory Analyst (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 7 April 2021
Salary is abysmally low, even with extensive prior experience - just a couple bucks above minimum wage. Expectations and work load is high; chronically understaffed.
Pros
fellow employees are wonderful
Cons
too much work for far too few people

Great group of people
Lab Technician (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 19 February 2021
A great place to work if you're looking for a fun group of people. Can be stressful and fast-paced, but it's a good place to gain experience. Would recommend to friends.
Pros
A great team
Cons
Busy, heavy workload

Client services (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 24 October 2020
Terrible work environment, poor pay, chaotic and poorly organized workload, the list goes on. You will be expected to work for free and if you protest in any way, expect to be terminated over the phone :)
Pros
None
Cons
Virtually everything-stay away

Not worth it.
Chemistry Lab Technician (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 7 August 2019
Poorly managed and understaffed. A lot of overtime hours, there were weeks where I worked 12hr shifts daily just to keep up with the amount of samples that came in.

Stressful & Busy
Team Lead (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 5 June 2019
Fast-paced, high work load, stressful environment, pay is so-so, little assistance from upper management when issues are brought forth, expectations are often unrealistic for production rates, staffing level is too low for the current growth rate.
Pros
Social events
Cons
Stressful & Unrealistic Expectations of Lab Staff
