Authoritarian! Memo circulated to all employees that if the production boss heard anybody use the term "my bad" they would be suspended for 5 days without pay! Apparently another memo was circulated by this guy that said office employees could not socialize. He compared it to a marriage that goes bad, or to some effect kinda like that.

The reason that I left Capitol Steel was that despite doing our best everyday (team responsible for cutting out the bridges, moving all the material inside and out, shipping finished product) we were not receiving compensation for our time. Oh yeah, a wage is a wage, but, the wages paid at Capitol Steel are not good wages unless your are related to one of the Managers, and if you are then you're probably related to all of the managers. Hint. Hint.

The longest I ever spent at the plant was a 15 hour shift, because of a massive backlog in shipping (poor promises made to customer that should not have been made).
Regularly 7-3:20 as long as it's not crunch time because someone projected plans for the project wrong.

Dirty and dusty almost all of the time.
The work is not overly challenging but it requires you to be meticulous because building bridges is an industry where precision matters. The most difficulties you are going to encounter is from poor management from the top all the way to the bottom of the totem pole.

While I was there if Health and Safety were to come in a call would come across the channel the manager listened specifically to and the inspector would be delayed typically 30 minutes while his entire family ran throughout the place quickly yelling and attempting to quick fix everything in sight before finally gathering them up and leading them on a small parade around the shop.
I wish Health and Safety would go there with some form of warrant that would just give them free travel throughout accompaniment or not.
