Worst Place Ever
Production Worker (Current Employee) –  Fenwick, ON17 November 2018
Horrible Management. Over 30? You are treated like garbage! This place needs a union. They dangle raises over your head and BS you about opportunity. Managers are super stoned immature and self promoting. You have to wear full breathing apparatus and hazmat suits. Long hours with no breaks. If you want to work in cannabis go somewhere else.
Pros
Nothing

Too Many to list

Production Worker (Former Employee) –  Fonthill, ON31 October 2018
If you like poor pay, long hours, hot n dusty environment it's for you. Management does not care about employees .....sum work wile others hangout. Then the workers get told to do it faster. Extreme hot in the rooms and every plight you could imagine as far as diseases . Be ready to be on camera and watched all day. If you have an off day termination time... the Management is inconsistent ,two faced and incompetent group of 30 year olds. Run away run away

A shining example of the Corporate Exploitation model in action
Front line worker (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON16 February 2019
I had high hopes for this industry, unfortunately CannTrust is emblematic of everything that is wrong and is going wrong with the Cannabis Industry as whole

What to expect:

-High employment Turnaround in every department: They cant seem to even beg people to stick around unless they are tenured employees who, frankly, don't realize there is better out there for them; The ones that do, minus some exceptions, are demoralized and lackadaisical and will spend the entirety of their Canntrust career just doing enough to keep themselves busy before lunch, and then just enough to get them through to the end of the day; This leaves salaried leads and supervisors to rush around 12-14 hours a day, every day, (unpaid after 7.5hrs, mind you) balancing all the asks & projects in the department as dictated by upper management

-A top-down management structure that segregates all executives from front-line staff on the top floor, where the repercussions of their projects & actions are neither seen nor felt; Plans and expectations are set unreasonably high deliberately to force pressure onto already over-worked and under-staffed departments to perform beyond the scope of physical possibility...This is designed to "motivate" (?) but instead completely destroys the culture on the Manufacturing floor

-A constant stream of no-commitment temp work which just feeds into the culture of disrespect for their front-line staff and to the temps themselves, having the prospect of a contract position with the company dangled in front of them like a carrot for, in many cases, an indefinite amount
more... of time with no real prospect of employment

-Unfair compensation practices at every level, from non-existent performance reviews to underhanded tactics in regards to reimbursing Stat pay for salaried employees, constantly shifting Job Descriptions without compensation or written contracts, etc.etc.

I could keep going but you get the idea; If you are willing to turn a blind eye to everything above, smile to the executives and play into their hands, and devote near every waking hour towards trying to steer this off-the-rails freight train then there is a possibility (however slight) that you can be promoted to the Executive level (Directors, VPs) where you work your 9 to 5 blind to the chaos you are part of creating for the hundreds of people working on the floor below you

As I said before, I had high hopes for the Cannabis Industry as a whole but if this company is any indication (and it is) the massive push towards Corporatization in this Industry is providing the exact same negative repercussions the Amazons and Wal-Marts have levied on the Retail Industry these past four decades, all of which are mirrored in my post above

The Cannabis Industry as a whole needs a few more years and a whole lot more competition to either take a radical shift towards valuing its people, its product, and its practices or to cement itself as the bastion of institutionalized exploitation it is currently becoming

Take heed, and think twice

Pros
It is still the Cannabis industry, after all
Cons
Long hours, unfair pay, no parking, poor management, high turnaround, tons of exploited temp workers

HORTICULTURE TECHNICIAN, PELHAM, ONTARIO (Former Employee) –  Pelham, ON2 November 2018
Everyone is undervalued and underpaid besides the higher ups. Poor working conditions, tons of PM, people steal in locker rooms and mess your stuff up. Management is secluded, bad hours, and bad pay.
Pros
Some good Co workers
Cons
Poor pay and work culture

Friendly and casual working place
on boarding (Former Employee) –  Vaughan, ON18 October 2018
Management was acting as if they were supportive during my probation period but then only after a few weeks they terminated my employment on the spot without any explanation. It was not the what or why but rather the how they carried out the termination. I was not able to say bye to anyone. This was very insensitive, embarrassing, insulting and degrading to say the least on their part. They definitely need to work on their termination procedures when it comes time to letting employees go.
Pros
casual dress code
Cons
mangement not supportive to all.

Exciting new industry that will have you flying by the seat of your pants
HR Generalist (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON23 July 2018
Although CannTrust is a relatively new company in a relatively new industry it's employees are committed and the most passionate people I have ever come across. They take great pride in their work and always look for ways to improve despite leading the pack.

If you are high energy, love for every day to be different and want to keep evolving and growing then this is an ideal place for you.

However, with that said, there is a lot of change over in management as the company tries to identify its core management style and identify its Vision, Mission and Values statement. .
Pros
Great environment
Cons
Low pay

Client Relations Manager (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON14 June 2018
Too many rules, sometimes managers pick on you. They can be cool sometimes, but they definitely have their favourites. Money is good, they give out promotions often.
Pros
Free food sometimes
Cons
All executives on the same floor as call centre, makes it uncomfortable

Awesome Company To Work For
Bilingual Patient Care Representative(Contract) (Former Employee) –  Vaughan, ON27 February 2017
I has accepted a contract for CannTrust thinking I could secure a role with the marketing team but unfortunately, this being a new industry, no positions were to be available in the near future.
