Good job for self-motivated employees
Auto Parts Clerk (Current Employee) – Vernon, BC – 5 May 2019
There is always plenty of work to do, at least at my Canadian Tire. There isn’t a moment of boredom, but plenty of “putting out fires” with my department being perpetually understaffed. Management is good, however my local dealer, though I have not interacted directly with him, I assume is causing my morale issues and is why we keep losing employees.
I was fine getting paid minimum wage during the school year and during my initial probation period, however now that I’m a stellar employee with attention of most of the managers, my minimum wage is starting to annoy me. Especially as it stopped covering my bills (until the next minimum wage increase).
I asked for a raise, and was told “we’ll see what we can do”, as that decision lies with the dealer. Now I understand why my associates fled for competitors like Lordco.
2 15 minute paid breaks, 30 minute unpaid lunch. Relatively stable schedule. 10% staff discount.
Minimum wage, no career progression.
