Less and less interesting technical work

In the 2000's the work was really interesting. These days the tasks are focused on contract and project management. To stay to date, engineers must stay directly involved in technical development. I got hired there to develop but now it is totally different.

Fascinating environement

This is truly a great environement to work in. It is inspiring to work with experts from many different domains. The hour are flexible, there is great atmosphere and you get a lot of autonomy. There is a ot of oportunities to grow in the agency.

You get to work in the most stimulating environement. Job security.
Cons
It is a government agency so you have to deal with heavy and sometime frustrating bureaucraty.

High stress by way of making sure mission control RECON files and documentation was free of errors because the loss time and money was not an option.

Fun and exciting place to be with Astronauts!!!

Very relaxed atmosphere despite the fact that this was a place where history was being made!!!!!

Co-workers were extremely helpful and supportive.
Management very supportive and eager to explain priorities and procedures - wanted to see everyone succeed.

Hardest part of job - not very busy!
Most enjoyable - Management very accessible, met astronauts, lots of fun!

The supervisor I was working under was very flexible and since I was working mostly on my own I could work at hours that would be beneficial for me. I would leave home after traffic hour and return again after traffic hour. The main joy of working at the Canadian Space Agency is the tech resources that are there to help you. The electrical technician, the machinist and all the other techs are there to help you if you need it to get the work done.
