Canadian Pacific Employee Review
Watch Out Hostile Work Environment
Trainee (Former Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 17 November 2022
I was impressed with my learning experience in Calgary but when I went to my home station moral is an all time low the company needs an overhaul of (management) not a surprise they can't maintain a work force with an openly HOSTILE management. The attitude toward trainees is unwanted unwilling to resolve problems but FIRE you over them. Canadian Pacific RD. AB is an open labour board violation. The overall company (culture) is not as advertised.

Management is somewhat volatile. It’s a point the finger kind of company.
Assistant Trainmaster / Operations Manager (Current Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 26 June 2022
Would not at all recommend going into the management side. You have to work your “days off” and holidays are always cancelled last minute. There is no work life balance at all

Do you love working for a company who only treats you like a number?
Train Conductor (Current Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 8 April 2022
Do you love working for a company who only treats you like a number? Who only care about stock prices. Cp is you’re kind of place. No home life. Only work life. They will run you into the ground as long as they could make a dime. And days off. Forget about it. You need a day off for you’re kids birthday? Ya sucks to be you get to work. They don’t care about you or anyone else but stock holders

Not as advertised. Toxic Working Environment
Conductor (Former Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 22 January 2022
The descriptions and interview process along with the initial classroom training in Calgary make this sound like a great career. However once in the field it is not as advertised. Very toxic environment, bullying, and worst union / management relationship I have ever encountered. First 6 months of pay while training is not enough to live on. Guy training you makes over $500 a run while you do majority of the work for $160 in a 24 hr period.
Pros
Excellent initial training in Calgary and excellent benifits
Cons
Terrible pay during training and very toxic work environment, They train you and use you for 6 months at $160 per day then lay you off, This is there system, high turn around, constantly hiring and training.
