Canadian Niagara Hotels Employee Review

Great place to learn

I learned so much from day one. Everything moves fast there which isn’t a bad thing it gets you really immersed and learning about the job. It taught me valuable lessons and good work ethic.

great place to work. People are friendly and appreciative

Management is supportive and culture is inclusive. The new daily challenges are the most enjoyable part of my job. The one bad thing is sometimes I have to play golf with clients - and I don't like golf.

Pros

great flexibility - I can duck out to see my son's hockey game on occasion

Cons

I don't really have any

Fun Place to Be

Fun location to be at with a lot of opportunities to move around. Still mostly felt like a dead end job though and pay was terrible. Great place to gain experience though and move forward with the next company.

Marriott on Falls - Overworked, underappreciated, poor upper management, FOM, etc.

At Marriott, expect to be overworked and underappreciated with upper management. There's no real appreciation for efforts and no ceiling of expectation on their end. There's also no real communication, so Front office manager and Assistant FOM will secretly watch and have others watch you, but not talk you direcly for any issue - this is highly problematic and untrustworthy, as you can imagine - There's a lot of empty pretense and hollow disingenuousness by upper management. In addition, their symstems are out of date by about 3 decades. Worst in the industry that I have encountered. This place will just run you into the ground. A lot of employees said to me, "Why would you want to work here? [Especially compared to better previous positions]. Now I know what they meant. Overall, a surprisingly oppressive environment and a disappointment in general.

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

Bad management, lack of communication or real job security
