Mobile Equipment Maintenance Teamlead in Calgary, AB

Great people
I am going to retire from CNRL. I had to move to the USA due to family matters. CNRL is a great company and the people make it enjoyable. It’s a very stable and has a strong economic value to the energy industry.

Terrible place to try and advance and stressful enviroment
Management doesn't listen to employees unless it's a way to save them money. If you think of a way to save them money, there is no recognition for it. Training is terrible, staffing is terrible (if short people, they don't call anyone in and expect you to cover 2 positions). Bare minimum for safety, starting wage and vacation. If you did all the extras they require to do, you'd never have time to do the job you were hired for properly.
Production Field Operator in Grande Prairie, AB

High pace, good employees, non competitive pay
High pace and high expectations. Overload of wells and compressors. Workload is difficult to achieve. Too many old wells and compressors which occupy much of your time. Not enough time for inspections and safety compliance. Fellow employees good to work with.
Contract Operator in Iddesleigh, AB

One of the best oilfield companies I worked for
Had a good time working there, good group of guys I worked with, close to home, good money, all in all, great workplace, some new equipment and a lot of old equipment
Instrumentation Technician in Fort McMurray, AB

Toxic Work Environment
No respect for workers or contractors. Slap talk and non professional behaviour is the normal out in the field. Managers attend training but frequently do not act professional. Nepotism present in the company. No respect for long term employees. Just look at their stock price over the last ten years and return on investment. Don’t make any major financial decisions for a job at CNRL as you most likely will get burned in the end. I witnessed lots of good people thrown under the bus over the 10 plus years that I was there. Bottom management lies to upper management (country club mentality). Upper management should tour facilities more often to really understand what is going on.Pay is excellent if you can stomach abuse however.
