Good pay, bad everything else.
So they hire you part time and train you through 1 week of classroom and 1 week of on the road with a driver. There is a 8am and 10am start. The training was well done but after that they throw you to the dog house. I’ve been hired since January and have worked maybe 4 days in 4 months. It’s insane how they can do this without paying you a salary for being available on call. If you do manage to get called in you’ll be on a route you’ve never done and it’ll take you 10+ hours to do it and will likely have to bring mail back to the dismay of the supervisors. It’s a stressful job and not at all what I signed up for. You won’t get hired full time till at least 480 hours worked. Which will take 3 years at this rate. Work elsewhere.
Pros
Money
Cons
Long hours when called in, not enough hours in general, very confusing sorting

My opinion is this is a job for someone single and young who doesn't mind not having a regular schedule- working either not at all or tons of overtime. As a casual it's impossible to have a family schedule or know when & how long, or even if you will be working. You either wait for a call and then don't work or it's a minimum 8 hour day, could be 12 as that's the company expectation if that's what it takes to deliver the route. The work itself is fine once you get the hang of it and I have found both union & management good to work with. The pay is fair.
Pros
get to work independantly, active, be outside
Cons
you either work not at all or really long hours
