It's okay company
Postmaster (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 27 June 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedInteresting thing about this job is that you get behind the scenes experience of postal service. Typical day - come to work and start sorting all incoming mail. By the time you finished there's a constant stream of people looking for their parcels, letters etc. Sometimes you might have a quiet hour or two, but mostly there's always something happening.

Average place to work
Letter Carrier (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 4 April 2022
I worked at Canada Post for two years as a letter carrier. Things about job: seniority rules, takes forever to get a decent route. Most supervisors are decent but some take their job too seriously. Pay is decent. The worst part of the job has to be flyers. You do so much work organizing them and get paid next to nothing per flyer
Pros
Weekends off
Cons
Flyers

Not worth it
Letter Carrier (Former Employee) - Greater Toronto Area, ON - 2 April 2022
From loving my job to hating every morning thanks to management who are not concerned with your health or well-being and won't think twice about putting you in danger, you may want to think twice about working here. You can fall ill and be expected right back at work like nothing ever happened. Don't expect the so-called benefits to look after your recovery period. If you're lucky you might get a great depot and location with good management and colleagues to work with but 9 times out of 10 you'll be feeling like you're going to battle. Not good for your health or overall sense of purpose and livelihood.

Stressful at times, union issues
Part Time Mail delivery agent (Current Employee) - Ponoka, AB - 2 April 2022
Union is too big to have a individual workers back. Job security is there as long as your willing to keep being vaccinated for Covid and nothing else
Pros
Sometimes early hours for salary pay
Cons
Toxic work environment, management issues, union issues, staff replacement issues

Run
Post Office Clerk (Former Employee) - Grindrod, BC - 29 March 2022
Don't bother unless you want casual work. They will over work and under pay. They make empty promises and when you try and get help nobody is willing to do anything and the paper gets shuffled around.

Management is lousy
PO4 CLERK (Current Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 29 March 2022
Too many managers who Do Not talk to each other. Very very hard to advance. Casuals work to pay Union fees, sometimes lucky enough to get a few extra hours.
Pros
Decent pay
Cons
Poor management, lack of hours, Union takes too much

Good Paying Job
Postal Clerk (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 27 March 2022
If you’re just starting out in the warehouse biz then then is a good place to start. You work in different places in the warehouse and hours are pretty flexible.
Pros
3 break times
Cons
Overnight hours

Good place to work at
Postal Clerk (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 25 March 2022
Good place to work at just a bit difficult to be a permanent with seniority in it. No problem with it once you are inside, work is easy nothing too techincal about it.

Not enough hours for on call employees
On Call Retail Associate (Current Employee) - Ontario - 25 March 2022
The only downfall being an on call/ term employee is that often there aren't enough call ins and you can go multiple weeks without hours. But good employment overall, and room for advancement if your willing to wait.
Pros
Time off if needed
Cons
Not enough call in shifts

Youre only a number
On call relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier (Current Employee) - British Columbia - 20 March 2022
The good; some great folks work here. The pay is decent if you’re working. It could be a great part time job if it was actually year round, and if part time/on call employees were actually valued. The ugly; Long road to full time work. You have to be available M-f if you want work. Holidays are super busy, and you’ll work until after dark…but after the holidays, your work will generally evaporate. Route holders will be given first chance at any extra work over the on call relief employees, which makes it an impossible job for anyone that requires year round work. On call employees have almost no protection at all in the collective agreement, so prepare yourself to be at the bottom.

Travail excitant
Facteur (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 13 March 2022
Lieu de travaux où on se sent libre. Quand t’es sur la route, tu es juste avec toi même . Aucune pression sur les épaules . Travail qui entretiens la forme physique. Avantage sociaux avantageux.

Disappointing work environment and employment
Postal Clerk (Current Employee) - Newmarket, ON - 13 March 2022
Despicable discrimination, discrepancies with payroll, continuous disrespecting amongst co workers. Simple honesty and respect is expected in my workplace but unfortunately is not the case

Fun workplace but stressful
Retail Clerk (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 12 March 2022
My colleagues and supervisor made the workplace enjoyable. There was no benefits however and the pay was terrible. There was no growth- was always stuck at the same position.

Enjoy the work, when it's available
Letter Carrier (Current Employee) - Dartmouth, NS - 11 March 2022
Working at Canada Post is really enjoyable when work is available. The hourly pay is great, and union is awesome. However, it's hard to advance out of casual as it's all seniority based, and there aren't a ton of positions that open up. Can go long weeks- months without a call in the slow season with low seniority. Have to be available all day every week day in case you get a call for the afternoon. If it were faster getting permanent, then it would rate much higher in my books.

I am so proud of to be an employee of the canada post.
RSMC PR (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 11 March 2022
One question: we do the same work as senior employees (more than five years). Why does the new employee couldn't get the full pay for the first five years? We do the same work as senior employees (more than five years).
