Fast paced

On call position. Hard on the body, affected my hands and shoulders. Thankless job but Canada Post is a strong company, backed by the Teamsters union.

Toxic

Often a toxic environment. Favoritism is prominent with management. Get treated poorly after several years of service as loyal dedicated employee. Not well managed as some people are favored. If you are not favored can be treated very poorly.

Pros

Pay is good.

Cons

Toxic environment.

Great for entry level

A great introduction to the corporate world for a recent grad. Supportive managers and overall a very structured and reliable place to work. The management teams are great.

Management is lousy

Too many managers who Do Not talk to each other. Very very hard to advance. Casuals work to pay Union fees, sometimes lucky enough to get a few extra hours.

Pros

Decent pay

Cons

Poor management, lack of hours, Union takes too much

Eh... It's better than no job.

As a temporary on-call employee, I was lucky to land work immediately. Many others waited weeks or months for a call. Alright as a second job, but not stable enough to be primary employment.

Pros

Adaptable, decent wage.

Cons

Toxic work environment, poor management/employee relations.

I enjoyed all the different jobs I did at Canada Post.

I was very lucky to make a lifetime career out of working for the post office. It was amazing. I met many lifetime friends there. It’s not really a flexible job but depending what job you do, you could make it more so. It was good money. If you were a letter carrier it was the best because by the time you were finished work, your kids were just finishing school. You worked days only and every holiday you got off. Except Easter Week and summer holidays.

Canadian Crown Corp that is Profitable

Although not well known, the crown corporation “Canada Post” has been profitable for mNy years and only shows any negative activity when the Government pulls in the retirement surplus (or not) into the mix. This is a Unionized shop environment and requires those who work here to pay a portion of their wage to the union itself (where this may raise the ire of some it does more good than bad in the long run) In any event the work is steady and requires mental knowledge of the mailing system and training is supplying oversll it’s a good place to work

Pros

Reasonable wages and time off

Cons

Work/life balance can take a hit

Easy job

The environment was ok not difficult work just a lot of heavy lifting and early mornings. Supervisors all had different ideas about what should be done. Work closely with others

Pros

Good pay and benefits

Cons

Night shift and close working with others

Productive

Great work environment., Team work. Enjoyed my coworkers. Stress from meeting deadlines, but they were always met. Christmas was the most enjoyable and volunteering to answer Santa letters from the children.,

Night shift

Advice to Management Retrain your supervisors twice a year. Have them earn their ranks from the bottom to the top, not based on their degrees only.

Other than the salary, I have nothing positive to say about either the job, supervisorsor or management

They, supervisors and managers, claim to care and push their PAID disability management and PAID doctors but its entirely and complete BS. There is very little respect given to workers by supervisors and managers, and they foster and feed a toxic work environment. There is even less respect or care for those who are sick. It's profit before workers unless CPC pays professionals for the response that the corporation wants or requires in order to justify their "caring" conduct.

Canada Post

Equality in pay needs to be implemented

Considering cost of living & other factors Canada Post hired people at $24.00 per hour say in 2007. On all fairness that needs to be addressed proportionately now. With all costs of living risen manifold overcyhe years the minimum that should becdone is to implement equality in pay will have positive impact on the current "HAVES & HAVE NOTS" sort of culture.

Poorly managed

Wage hasn’t moved in years, union does nothing for the workers. Poorly managed, and not consistent with discipline or lack thereof. Can never seem to agree to anything with the union and always welcoming back to workmlegislatiom
