Good pay for the work you have to do.
Postal Clerk (Former Employee) - Montreal - 17 June 2022
Boring job at times and advancement is based on seniority (hiring date) and not on merit. Sometimes job is very physically demanding and tiring but does not require alot of skill.
Pros
flexibility, pay, benefits
Cons
physically demanding at times, no recognition of good work ethic

Horrible place to work
Letter Carrier (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 4 June 2022
Management treated letter carriers like garbage. A new letter carrier isn’t given enough time to learn the job correctly and is expected to perform as well as a seasoned employee.

Seniority rules, terrible management, poor communication/consultations. Great place after many years of seniority.
Postal Clerk (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 8 April 2022
You're just a number, tada! You will be used like a dog but over time your seniority will bring all you want after many years. Vacations are based on seniority and there are cut-offs. Took 22 years of seniority to finally take any week of vacation. Must stay for career to enjoy fruits of labor. Pros: Salary/Benefits, Prestige, Camaraderie and Collective Agreement (Worker rights, pay scale) Cons: Management especially Staff movement, lack of communication/consultation, lack of hours for new workers, poor work life balance for those with less seniority. Workplace politics (can be supervisors looking to prove themselves and delegate you and everyone to the latrine pit). Constant changes to depots/plants/systems. Nothing is consistent. Old ways that didn't work will reappear again in the future thus losing money. Don't expect to remain at the same depot, there are relocations even for permanent. Postal codes are moved around. Many lazy people that drag down the team spirit/morale and push everyone else to work slower. Supervisors have their favorites and give free passes to them.

Travail excitant

Pros
Organisation de la journée, camaraderie
Cons
Température externe extrême difficile pénible

Jobs at Canada Post
in Montréal, QCGood Job for Retired People
Mail Courier (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 7 January 2022
It's the easiest job on the planet, but the pay is less than industry standard. The union is your worst enemy. Managers are afraid of the union. Actually this place with be much better without the union.
Pros
Good Benefits.
Cons
Too much union rules.

Eh... It's better than no job.
Clerk (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 3 December 2021
As a temporary on-call employee, I was lucky to land work immediately. Many others waited weeks or months for a call. Alright as a second job, but not stable enough to be primary employment.
Pros
Adaptable, decent wage.
Cons
Toxic work environment, poor management/employee relations.

Pros
Salaire
Cons
Communications

Good stable job with above average benefits and long term stability
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 29 August 2021
Great job if you have a family. With overtime your salary can easily go to 70-75k. Everyone starts at evening or graveyard shift which are the toughest shifts and since the training process is very poor, most people leave within 3 months. But if you can tough it out it is a super stable job long term with high probability of movement after two years to try something else within the company or get closer to home if you want. Heavy union presence is a big daily challenge. Way too much paperwork than what you expect and no time allotted to do it. Your team and the emp you supervise are never at full staffing with adds work and stress to you.
Pros
Salary, weekends off, benefits, long term stability, pension plan, uniform provided.
Cons
Heavy union presence, Poor training+culture, Lots of personnel changes monthly, Noisy Factory setting, Always short staffed, poor support from head office, very closed to change.

Super political job treating you like a slave worst employer ever for harassment
Facteur (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 2 August 2021
Worked for many years for them. Got treated like garbage, can't take time off, gotta be available at all time, super physical job. First in work incident and when you get under medical care they harass you at home for you to come back and try everything to invalid your status. They keep exaggerating the work charge and they cry that they can't increase the salary when they have the highest salary for the management in every government society. Just plain terrible company. Used to be a great job, now it's plain slavery.
Pros
Work outside on your own most of the day
Cons
Big charge of work, anti-humanism management, harassment, start as a temporary employee on call without salary raise, many physical dangers, super physical job (i saw many litterally cry and quit), mostly powerless syndicate

You have to fit the mould
Sales Executive (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 16 February 2021
Culture is very political. You do not fit the mould, you might get put on a performance plan, or worst intimidated by colleagues and/or supervisors to enter in the circle.
Pros
Pension Plan, benefits
Cons
Culture, salary, expectations

Stress
Pros
Sécurité d emploi
Cons
Stress

Disorganized company
PCR (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 14 January 2021
The more stupid and lazy you are the faster you move up in the company. ZERO support from management, everything is on your shoulders. If there is a problem you fix it and better be sure there are no mistakes. NO recognition for your hard work, no one listens to you when you tell them something then when **it hits the fan they come and put pressure on you. Managers are all lost, they know nothing but yet get all the praise. CUPW runs the company cause Canada Post has no **LLS to stand up to them. With the pandemic there is no protection, everyone is on top of everyone and they go against the rules of the provincial/federal government in QC. When it comes to your tasks There is ZERO communication, we find out info through the grape vine rather then from your manager and then are questioned as to why you did not do the task you were supposed too. Good luck moving up, managers will get who they want for the vacant position even if it means going against the PSAC collective agreement.....and PSAC does nothing to protect there employees. There are people who are not bilingual and are working in bilingual positions and getting paid an extra bonus and yet PSAC does nothing about it. There is big time favoritism, so even if you have the smarts and the knowledge they will take who they want......HR who does the hiring does nothing to stop this. The pay is decent, our pension is garbage and our benefits are so so.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Management, union, culture at canada post
