Office Environment
Office Assistant (Former Employee) –  Arrow Road25 December 2017
Typical day, go to work, put your head down and don’t talk unless you have been there 20 years.
Work Process is still in 1987 not 2017. No training for new people. Set up for failure from the start.
A lot of meetings behind closed doors (20 year employees) and they do not work or communicate with new employees.
Toxic environment. Be careful!
Pros
Pay
Cons
They do not communicate

Accounts Receivable Clerk (Former Employee) –  130 Arrow Road21 December 2017
Typical day, go to work, shut your mouth unless you have been there 20 years.
Needs management change to work in 2017 not in 1987. Problem starts from the top down.
No training for new people. Set up for failure from the start.

Legacy Employees reject all new employees
Communications and Marketing (Former Employee) –  Toronto, Ontario20 September 2017
My typical day was to arrive and go straight to my cube. I loved what I did so it didn't matter to me that the people in the office all hated each other. The management is secretive and dismissive.
They paid well so you can swallow the way you're treated.
Pros
They pay well
Cons
New management does not think of staff as people just part of the equipment to run the place

Deflating!
Managment (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON20 September 2017
Upper management is working too busy on their personal agendas to offer training or direction. Middle management is too busy trying to figure out what’s going on with Company objectives to even try and train their staff or direct them. Recently added HR department works only for the Company, not employee, so don’t even bother. Marketing Department is a joke with that employee coming from outside the industry and having zero marketing experience.

Overall experience is like being in a hurricane, ever spinning around in circles, never going up, never coming down and just staying lost. Keep your head down, because if you speak up – it does nothing except shorten your stay with them! It truly is criminal how a person can walk in with such high hopes and aspirations for a bright future and forward career movement to only watch as how quick they flush it all down the toilet – all while keeping a smile on their face!

Pay

Can't list them all

Operations (Former Employee) –  130 Arrow Road19 September 2017
They fail on every level and it begin's at the top. Walking through the main office, the defining silence you hear is the employees contemplating who's back will be stabbed next.
Pros
Great employees and co workers
Cons
Lack of solid Management

Leaderless Political Battleground
Manager (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON18 September 2017
Typical workday would be senior managers running behind each other's backs, in secrecy, closed doors, tension, bully tactics and lots of shady business dealings. Legacy employees shut out new hires or those who don't embrace said shady business dealings. Divisions invoicing vendors for services not rendered & getting kick backs. Either you are aware of them, or you aren't. But unless you are okay with it - this isn't the place for you.

There is no leadership. It is driven off personal agendas and it lacks professionalism is every aspect of a workplace environment.

Medical benefits are horrible.

Workplace culture is very uncomfortable, walking on eggshells while you are judged or set-up for failure. Managers like to think they are way better than the people hired or pushed into roles they don't want.

Most enjoyable part of working at Canada Fibres Ltd (Urban Group of Companies) was going home at the end of the day.

Generally it is a very toxic environment no matter location you work from.
Pros
They pay well for you to keep you mouth shut
Cons
Too many to list

This company has great job security as its a recycling center and people are always going to be recycling. The management is great, if you need something they don't hesitate to go out and buy it for you. The staff is good as well.

it's the co-workers at work that inspire and motivate me to work harder each day. i learned how to manage a group of employees. the management was good. the co-workers at work were entertaining. the hardest part of the job is working in the freezing cold without any breaks in between to keep us warm. the most enjoyable part of the job is being around good people.
