Don't expect too much from this company!
Carpenter (Current Employee) –  Victoria, BC20 January 2019
The most positive day you will ever work with this company will be on your last day!

There is little to no direction given by superintendents and foremen, they rely heavily on lead hands, no morning tool box meetings, Easter egg hunts for materials, unable to manage good use of great workers, safety is only exercised when beneficial to company (no stand downs after major incidents), quality of tools are about average as most other job sites, and worst of all no direct deposit on paycheques. As for construction companies to work for and trust I would look otherwise.
Pros
its not Farmer Construction

everything

Carpenter (Former Employee) –  Victoria BC29 October 2018
I can't name a single good thing about this company, they treat you like dogs. They are one of the worst employers in North America, choose literally any union employer instead.

Great company and lots of innovation
Project Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Victoria, BC10 May 2018
The office team within this company is a great group of people. You get to work on staple projects within the city and an amazing group of people. A typical day of work can range from running meetings to reviewing drawings or leading change within the organization. There is lots of opportunity within the company and the projects are very interesting! This is a company where you are not just another number or a cog in the wheel.
Pros
Staff events, innovation, great staff and team environment, flexible work life balance
Cons
RRSP matching

A great company with great people!
Project Manager (Current Employee) –  Victoria, BC10 May 2018
Having worked with the company for a long time I have had the opportunity to work on many great projects with a great group of people. The company is willing to invest in technology and with new leadership is pushing innovation within the construction industry. There is also lots of youth in the organization and the company has lots of long standing relationships with the most reputable developers within the city.
Pros
Flexible work life balance, vacation
Cons
RRSP / TFSA matching program would be nice

Construction Foreman (Current Employee) –  Victoria, BC13 October 2017
no organization
poor leadership from top to bottom
zero training provided for new and young workers
work life balance is not there
most young talented workers are leaving for other companies leading to an aging group of journeyman carpenters with noone left to replace them

For my first time experience being in the field of construction was tough but later got use to it, just a matter of commitment and hard work to gain the likeness in the field.
Pros
Out in town for lunch
Cons
Work through weather conditions

Frustraring Job environment
CARPENTER (Former Employee) –  Victoria, BC28 March 2017
The hardest and most frustrating part of working for this company was getting the job done when they don't provide the proper tools and materials. You have to keep an eye on your tools or else they will get stolen! That should not happen in a job site!
Also it's hard to work with young people that don't really want to be there.
Pros
good wage
Cons
No tools to work with

Journeyman Carpenter (Former Employee) –  Victoria, BC21 October 2016
i have been working as a carpenter for over 10 years. The was campbell does builds, runs sites, treats there workers is atrocious. Example the site i was on had 25 carpenters in one area. and for the first 4 months we had no place to eat, no drinking water, and they only cleaned the port o potties maybe once every two weeks, often we ran out of toilette paper and guys where bringing there own.

they preach safety non stop, but never ever fallow through and if saftey gets in the way of production forget about it. further more if you bring up safety concerns in meetings you are disowned for it. punished for fallowing the rules.

over all one of the worst sites/ companies i have ever worked for and highly recommend if you are a skilled carpenter or some one wanted to start a career in carpentry to look some where more respectable.
Pros
a paycheque
Cons
to many to list

Low production overall, too easy going
Red seal carpenter (Former Employee) –  Victoria, BC21 May 2014
The job was a renovation, it is a large school wanting to keep the heritage title.

A typical day can vary from demo to forming or framing and demo. During this job I learned the basics of shear walls and how to use the berk forming system.

The co-workers were generally nice.

As for management well, a second foreman was needed to pick up production, moral was extremely low enough said.

The hardest part of working with this company is the fact that the gift of the gab seems to get you further than being clever and putting in an honest days worth of work.

The variety of this job and all the problems that needed to be solved was most enjoyable.
Pros
The odd free lunch
Cons
Zero job security regardless of your production and skill

Great company to work for
Joiners helper & General Labourer (Former Employee) –  Victoria, BC7 March 2014
Learned how to install cabinets from some of the best.
The hardest part of the job was carrying cabinets up flights of stairs all day for days at a time. The most enjoyable time was assisting Journeymen Joiners in installing cabinets and learning to install cabinets on my own.
Pros
safety-oriented management
Cons
bad management of labourers

Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Victoria, BC14 June 2013
very little highrise construction experience.

little value for employees; would rather save money on wages, to spend it instead to do something three times.
