I wouldn’t recommend . Unknowledgeable manager. Stressfull workplace. Stressfull stressfull stressfull. No room for growth. Poor management. Specially the warehouse manager she has no clue and no knowledge about the company nor the procedure for everyday operations. Calea should get rid of the manager who are not capable. Very disappointing company.

Productive, meaningful work.

Long term employee who has seen consistent advancement. Management is collaborative and open to new ideas. Staff are welcoming, fun, energetic, and keep the morale high. The work can be repetitive, but rewarding knowing the positive impact the organization can make on so many patients and their families.

I might be here for a while...

I have been at Calea for 2 years and can easily see myself staying here for many more years to come. Staff is friendly and welcoming and the Social Committee makes sure we have a good time outside of working hours as well. The most enjoyable part of the job is the people I work with. You must be good at multitasking to do this job otherwise it can be hard to keep up - but generally the job is easy and repetitive but interesting enough to not get bored. There is lots of vacation time available and the scheduling structure leaves a lot of room for flexibility. There is room to grow in this company and management is supportive and encouraging and open to new ideas. They will do everything they can to help you succeed in your career.

Fast paced, stressful, overworked and understaffed

Concerns were rarely, if ever addressed. Very critical and judgemental. No learning opportunities. You are a production worker. Under value staff and little to no growth opportunities. Worried more about volume being sent out to patients than the quality.

Like a stressful high school.

Extremely high turnover in all departments. I saw so many great employees in and out. It was terrible. Just too many tasks to be done for all of the positions, not enough employees, or enough time. There is very clear favouritism between staff and management. Those certain staff (older, but not all of them) slack off all the time. Spent more time talking about the football pool, that weekend’s bbq plans for them all, plus general chatting. While all the temps and newer employees did all the work. It’s also like a stressful high school. A lot of gossip and even name calling to the point of tears. It was so stressful trying to get as much done as you can with the heavy work load, drama, knowing there is so much more to be done, but not enough time, or yet trained people to do it. Plus new employees coming in over and over trying to learn. In all departments. Just ridiculous.

Pros

Free food.

Cons

Long hours.

Worst place I’ve ever worked. No one is willing to train. Every time I had requested it from a co-worker I was told “we don’t get paid to train” (apparently no one there does because they just don’t) The management is extremely discouraging. I hadn’t even been working there for more than a few months and I could hear the team lead saying negative things about a team member to other team members. It felt like they would rather watch you fail than help you; which is very scary being that how well an employee does there could reflect on the safety of a patient receiving the drugs from that site. They are in no way open to suggestions for improvement. Any suggestion made to co-workers is immediately brushed off with “ let QA worry about it”. As if the employees in the lab have zero quality training. If you’re a new hire then you better be able to read minds. You are expected to know what the cleanroom needs without being in there; and you are expected to know when they need it without being told. Any new person who starts is basically treated as a slave. The technicians (lead included) are extremely lazy. They won’t do anything for themselves. If there is one order waiting and two people in the cleanroom the lead will ask you to stay late just so they don’t have to do it themselves. Management allows the pharmacists to carry this sense of entitlement. They have no consideration for anyone they work with and they refuse to clean up after themselves (which sometimes results in financial loss for the company when they leave refrigerated drugs out over night.)
