Stressful and low compensation
First off, the pay is abysmal. Even senior employees who have been there for 5+ years are not adequately compensated for their efforts and loyalty. Owner only cares about bottom line. Safety is a joke, if you ever plan on taking a safety shower - good luck moving buckets and buckets of sand out of the way first. Chemical organization and storage is also a joke. Every now and then, mgmt will try to boost employee morale with pizza days and events - but outside of this there is very little support from higher ups. Turnover rate is incredibly high - as most new employees who start realize very quickly how disorganized and chaotic workflow is, while still being expected to process a large volume of samples. Company culture is cult-like, and if you speak up against how things are done - expect to get fired. All in all, it's not worth the "experience".

Stressful, unrealistic expectations, poor health and safety practices, horrible pay
Health benefits after 3 months, otherwise the work demands are unrealistic, stressful, health and safety is not considered a priority, above all the pay is horrible. For almost the same rate with a margin of the stress and responsibilities, work retail.

Management cares nothing for employee safety and is regularly two faced and hypocritical. And one of them actively creeps on the female employees.
If you're looking for your first lab job, maybe suffer this terrible place for a few months. Otherwise, the low pay, inability to advance (one employee has been in the same position for over 10 years, despite being "invaluable"), and complete disregard for genuine safety (it's a chemical facility; mercury, phenol, and estrogen disruptors should not be so easy to inhale or touch) make it a miserable environment in the long run. The irony of a self-titled "environmental laboratory" containing a truly filthy and dangerous workspace, seems entirely lost on the management team. Cherry on top: their hiring policy allows for huge and callous variation in pay. New employees with less educational qualifications will be given a higher wage than long-established employees with the same or better credentials. You'll be making barely above minimum wage despite having a B.Sc and previous lab experience. It's an awful place.
