Moved the Western Canada Service Desk to Montreal
Help Desk Agent (Former Employee) –  Regina, SK19 April 2018
CGI made the decision to close the only CGI service desk in Western Canada and move it closer to head office in Montreal. While we were give notice of this and some assistance to improve resume, no real assistance was given help find work or try to find positions within CGI in Regina. For myself, this has resulted in me searching for work unsuccessfully for 9 months. This decision appears to have been made without looking at the possible impact it would have on current clients of the Regina Service Desk, only at the reduced operating expenses following the move.
Pros
Had some learning sources available, local management was good
Cons
Poorly managed from the top levels, little cost/benefit analysis when making decisions, paid below average

The place of work is very convenient for people living near the town of Shawinigan
Developpeur .NET (Former Employee) –  Shawinigan, QC6 January 2018
The work place is very convenient for people living near the town of Shavinigan.
I lived in Montreal and worked in shawinigan. So I had to either rent an apartment and live in shawinigan from Monday to Friday, or ride every day for about 180 km to one side. I tried to do it during the summer season. I found this uncomfortable for me.

Horrible Place to Work
Client Engagement Director (Former Employee) –  Halifax, NS30 December 2017
Global Technology Operation at CGI had a terrible work culture with lack of accountability from shared services that were critical to delivering high quality services in profitable manner. The only way to get things done was constant escalations and follow ups.

Worst of all, senior management had no idea as to what was going on at the working level and made extremely poor decisions because of that.
Pros
Local team talent - hard working, smart people.
Cons
Horrible culture. Overworked staff at all levels.

I was only employed there on a temporary basis so I don't have enough experience to give a review that would be considered meaningful.
From the short time I did work there however, the company seems to be solid in regards to the staff and management.
Pros
nice people
Cons

10 managers per deveoper
Senior Software Developer (Former Employee) –  Montréal, QC11 December 2017
A lot of managers. A lot of chances to work on a project with more managers than developers so you will spend a lot of your time sending reports.
Money driven company: projects and professionals future depends only on their expected profit rate. Very poor strategic thinking.
Zero chances do grow: the same blablabla from HR. A lot of "tools" to access and trace your career path but ZERO chances to actually change positions. Unless you work there for thousands of years.
Nice pay and benefits. Good work/life balance.
