Reviews about Pay & benefits for Laboratory Supervisor at Bureau Veritas
Workplace to avoid, if possible.
Lab Supervisor (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 2 May 2017
Worked my way up and experienced different things.
As a technician, be prepared to do repetitive work everyday, that do not need too much thinking. As an analyst, it will be slightly better but soon it will get mundane and repetitive as well, but if you're ok with that, then no problem. As a lab supervisor, be prepared to be slightly overworked, and dealing with bad management and some politics, bureaucracy.
Job is not hard, everything can be learned with time, most enjoyable is probably getting to know many different interesting people of different ethnicity.
The Burnaby branch is unionized, so not much salary negotiations there for non management. For new immigrants, interns, co-ops, or new graduates, it is a good place to start, but it is highly advisable to find somewhere better in the long run.
Pros
may be good for new graduates/immigrants for a short while, place to meet new friends.
Cons
Low pay, minimum advancement, bad management, bureaucratic.

Where do I start
Lab Supervisor (Former Employee) - Bowen Basin QLD - 4 February 2016
I enjoyed my time at Bureau Veritas but only the workers I had beside me. The management had No Idea and they still owe me for 3000 hours overtime.

Amazing work experience but bad work-life balance
Laboratory Technician/ supervisor (Former Employee) - Immingham, Lincolnshire - 14 May 2020
A lot of equipment to work at and a lot to learn. Amazing learning curve. After 1 year you get more expensive than in 4 years in similar industry somewhere else. However average week was to work 50-60h. During a week hours were consolidated so no overtime paid. Weekends overtime were paid 1.5. With family and children not possible to manage. Very stressful.
