Great place to work at
Shipper/Receiver (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 2 November 2023
Flexible time and work is not heavy although it gets busy during the warm seasons. Managers are awesome they usually listen to the employees complaints and suggestions.

Great for people who seek growth and professional development.
HR Business Partner (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 12 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Former HRBP, Toronto. HR team is amazing, company overall is great but I have to say communication needs a lot of improvement. Having worked with most departments, overall company culture is great but there is a need for better policies. Lots of opportunities for growth and development. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of stress.

Stay away from this place
Sample Prep Technician (Former Employee) - Whitehorse, YT - 28 September 2023
The management sucked, the job sucked overall. Very dirty environment, no room for even the slightest amount of error. I had a week of severe bowel problems which I couldn't ignore, and management took that as taking too many "breaks". I would not be surprised if most of the current employees moved to the competitors.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Terrible management

Good, can be better with little effort from everyone.
Sample Archivist (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 15 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Super friendly team at Archiving and Warehouse. Fantastic Supervisor, Good Manager, amazing people at the department. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Shift changes. Demands a lot of flexibility. Perhaps the management should try to understand employees needs and try being flexible with resources on timing. Employee shortage and other challenges are not employees' problem, so the burden cannot be on them. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Cool environment. Culture, people could do a lot better. A bit of a challenge with lot of cultures / ethnicity in one place. People of different groups should welcome inclusion of people from different background. To be with one's own group only isn't the best or rather right reason for migrating to Canada! What is a typical day like for you at the company? Engaged, so busy yet relaxed..

Great coworkers, low pay
Sample Preparation Technician (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 14 September 2023
I enjoyed the camaraderie working at BV. Coworkers were great. However management was terrible and the pay was extremely low, almost minimum wage. Every one of my coworkers had university degrees, so I'm not sure how they were surviving off these very low wages. A lot of them went back to school to try and get a better job somewhere else.

Vey collaborative environment. Lots of opportunity to learn. Fast paced. The team was small and easy to get along with. Tech support in office and online was exceptional as well.

Cons

Pros
7 days off
Cons
less pay

Good place to start out lab experience. Rest is luck
Laboratory Analyst (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 9 August 2023
One of the few places that will let you get your footing in the laboratory world. Your experience there will vary significantly by your direct supervisor and the department you are assigned to. If you are lucky, you get a livable wage with somewhat engaging work. If not, then you earn minimum wage with monotonous manual labor. Also a huge gamble if they'll let you keep your job after your contract is over. I'd say about 10% of the contract worker manages to stay, and the rest gets cut at the end of the season.

Jobs at Bureau Veritas
laboratoire aux mains d'une secte
lab tech (Former Employee) - Montréal-Est, QC - 31 July 2023
Pros
aucun
Cons

Busy work, low wages
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Bedford, NS - 31 July 2023
They generally hire new grads as lab techs and pay you near minimum wage. Busy pace at the lab. Some of the staff are friendly, some not so much. Management is generally quite busy but they’re helpful. Not many opportunities to move upward within the company and promotions don’t come with as much of a raise as one would like. Occasional weekend shifts when the lab is very busy.
Pros
Good entry level job. Decent benefits.
Cons
Possible weekend shifts. Low Wages.

Run away, fast
Manager (Former Employee) - British Columbia - 22 June 2023
Worst company I have ever worked for. Expected to work extra hours/days and not be compensated. I was told a long time ago never to work for a commercial Lab, but I thought I’d try, worst mistake of my career. Suggest anyone that has anything at all with another employer, to go that route and avoid BV! Run, avoid, don’t be fooled by lies, just run.

A decent place to get your foot into the door.
Laboratory Analyst 2 (Former Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 9 June 2023
When I first started there were a lot of opportunities to learn new things. However, how far you will go is completely up-to the biased management because no matter how hard you work. The “favourite guy” in your group always wins. Extreme politics , not a very respectful workplace , Biased people for sure. The worst part is they will hire anybody who doesn’t have any former education in chemistry. Don’t go on the job postings where they ask you for a degree in chemistry (YEAH NO KIDDING). Your chances of getting the job is how low you can go on wages and they’ll hire you. Lastly, poor and low wages and sometimes they miss to pay (YES SERIOUSLY). You have to go after the HR and management for months to get your earned vacation paid back to you. I would definitely not recommend this place.
Pros
Somewhat decent benefits, An ok “RRSP” contribution plan from them.
Cons
Low wages, Poor and Biased management, Favouritism, Payroll within the company is horrible, Workplace Politics, Toxic work culture

Terrible Management, Terrible Pay, Overtime expected
Laboratory Analyst (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 1 June 2023
People are generally great and fun to work with, until management tells you not to communicate and just work. Advancement given on preference, not competency. Overtime is not an option, its a constant expectation. Even though supervisors leave early. Don't expect supervisors/team leads to show any interest in your workload or situation. Raises are out of the question based on 3+ year union negotiations getting nowhere.

Not A good place to Grow
Analyst I (Current Employee) - 6740 Campobello road, Mississauga - 6 May 2023
The management is extremely bad and does not know how to manage properly, they expect us to work like robots in set period of time which is not even possible if they expect us to follow SOP. The major concern is they don't value all the employees only few are being praised even if they do not work properly. Managers and supervisors do not know what to speak and when to speak. They try to enter in peoples personal life a lot which is not appreciated at all.
Pros
location, few colleagues
Cons
less pay, no actions taken on reviews, no promotion

Avoid at all costs
Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 3 May 2023
If u desperately need a job and you are a recent graduate then its a nice place to start. Pay is horrible , work-life balance is horrible, everything is literally awful. Cheap equipments, rude trainers and rude supervisors who expect you to work in insane amount of time. Oh and extremely physical

Bonne expérience de travail

Bad management, overworking people to burnout
Sample Login Technician (Former Employee) - Québec City, QC - 28 April 2023
My coworkers were wonderful, that's the only positive (and the company is in no way responsible for that). I could see the cracks soon after I started working there. I was fired for asking for a raise/switching to another department. For a company that prides its ethics and integrity, firing an employee that asks for a raise, looks very bad. They have a culture of overworking their good employees while saving costs on pay and operating understaffed. I do not recommend you work there.
