Fast paced and stressful

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
In the service queue you inundated woth calls all day long and management expects you to be ready to answer the phones at all times. If you like fast paced busy days, this is the place for you.

Not a fun place to be

Worst place to work at. Awful. The constant changes do not help the employees. They overwork you and the pay does not satisfy what they expect from their employees. There is no true advancement with the company. This job would be a waste of time if you value your mental and physical health

Pros

Nothing.

Cons

Hours. Work environment. Clients you deal with.

Good company to work for overall

Overall good company, but within the past couple of years they’ve made changes that don’t seem to be in customers or employees best interests. Processes change very often.

Pros

Great benefits and vacation

Cons

Stressful, things are constantly changing

When you see this job posting run continuously you know something is up.

* The benefits are great* The pay is OK. * The training is fine. The expectations are so that it will be super difficult to make management happy. Now that the power is back in the employees hands w/ low unemployment, why not go for a better place that you deserve. The other 3 star review is true. You need to have a lot of attention to detail to do this job well. Its a call centre environment and somedays will be ok to great and others you will pull your hair out. There is a very long learning curve. Turnover is so that if you have a year here you would be considered a senior broker. Sad right.

Pros

Benefits were great Pay was sufficient

Cons

Ongoing & Unreasonable Expectations

Collaborative

A collaborative place with good benefits. Work-life balance. Managers are friendly and would always assist you, same as other coworkers. Offer thorough training

Supportive but micromanaged

The managers are really supportive and its a really good place to learn, probably the best place if you are just getting into the insurance industry. But its is definitely the worst place for micromanaging, its horrible. They time your bathroom breaks

Pros

learn lots, good bonuses

Cons

micromanaging, have to work some Saturdays

Toxic management

I have never worked at such an unorganized, and unprofessional company .The management and training is an absolute joke . Toxic work environment, and unhappy employees. Looking at the other reviews I see management has been an issue for awhile . You are promised the world , and than sadly disappointed. There is definitely no security with this company regardless of what they say.

Cons

Terrible and toxic management

Amazing place

Amazing culture, really supports their employees whether it's providing them with lots of training or helping them to grow. Have met with lots of amazing people - amazing UMs. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. The only con is that it can be stressful from time to time but other than that, I have no complains.

Pros

Co-workers, UMs, culture, benefits

Cons

Stressful and I wish the pay was higher

Overall, good company to work for. Certain managers are better than others.

Good company overall in terms of work life balance and employee share purchase plan. I would expect a big company like this to pay 100% for benefits but they don’t. They don’t pay particularly well either.

Expect BrokerLink to be your life.

If you want to stay afloat, be prepared to spend your evenings and weekends working. I hope you enjoy micromanagement, lengthy workflows, and minimizing time with your clients at the expense of rapport-building and accuracy.Would not recommend.

Pros

Benefits COVID Response

Cons

Pretty much everything else

Worst company Ive ever worked for..

Stay far away from this cult. The management are unprofessional and gossipy. There is no privacy if a complaint has been made either. Your business will become everyone's business. It's like you've never left highschool.

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

Gossip, lack of privacy, favoritism

Going Downhill...

This is the most stressful job I had ever done. Very high expectations with little to no support in order to complete tasks for clients. No reasonable time given to complete tasks either. Constant micromanaging along with constant threats to your position if you cannot/do not meet expectations. Many new changes within the last year that are hurting employees and set you up for failure. Be prepared to donate endless hours of your own time just to stay caught up every day (best of luck with that). Environment is like a call center now with constant monitoring of each call. You're pretty much chained to your desk and have to account for each minute away from it. I would NEVER recommend working here.

Pros

Benefits

Cons

Heavy workload, stressful, be prepared to donate a lot of your time...

Micromanagement at its finest

This used to be a really great company to work for but then it transitioned into a call center and every additional change has not been for the better. A year ago I wouldn't have hesitated to recommend working for Brokerlink so things have gone downhill quick. Employees are micromanaged and measured/compared in every area that can be monitored, management demotivates on a daily basis, employees are told on the record that extra time is not required but in order to be left alone by management you will have to spend your own unpaid time attempting to catch up (you will never ever catch up and put the idea of getting ahead out of your mind) You also have to learn to manipulate the phone queue system in order to not get shamed by lower management or appear on upper managements radar.

Pros

Excellent benefits, company response on Covid was quick and work from home transition was seamless, most clients reasonable to help but the best part of the company are brokers and support staff.

Cons

long hours, micromanagement, overworked, underpaid, workload unreasonable, stressful industry

Best part of the job was 5 oclock

At Brokerlink you won't understand what micromanagent is until you work there. Every week they find a new way to track you while you are chained to the desk. You have to log out to get permission to go to the bathroom. Managers are yes men and women, too afraid to let upper management know the reality of the work place. Lower Management would rather tell upper management what they want to hear. It has become a call centre that does nothing but agrivate clients calling in. The client gets bounced around from branch to branch until they get frustrated and hang up.

Pros

Cons

Work culture and structure

Job was great, challenging overall

Must pass test for licensing which was the biggest challenge. Other than that the job was fun if you enjoy interacting with clients. I enjoyed everything that had to do with the job otherwise

Pros

Flexibility

Personal Lines Broker

Very relaxed with some coworkers being very driven while others show a lack of interest. This can elad to some frustration although overall the atmosphere is amazing.

Fast paced highly managed environment

This job was in a call centre and not what I expected as the workflows are extensive and not for a slow learner. A challenge and a fast paced environment.

Largest brokerage in the country

Lots of opportunities to grow and learn. Great starting point in the Insurance industry, since its part of Intact as well. Benefits are good. You get 3 weeks of pto on your first year.
