British Columbia Institute of Technology Employee Review

Great institution but pay is low for part-time work

In the part-time studies program, it is difficult for instructors to make a living as the money is so-so and there are very few benefits with a lack of job security. However, you do get a reasonable amount of freedom in your teaching which is nice. You don't have someone breathing down your neck at your work as other institutions have.I still say that overall BCIT is a good place to work, it just suffers the same issues as many other universities.

Pros

Great students, nice campus, some freedom

Cons

No job security in PTS, no benefits, so-so pay

Great place to grow

BCIT provides various learning and career opportunities to employees, faculty and management. In order to be familiar with the work, I advise new employees to experience a full academic calendar to get a full picture of the role and responsibilities.
