British Columbia Institute of Technology
British Columbia Institute of Technology Employee Review
Great institution but pay is low for part-time work
Part-time Lecturer (Current Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 3 October 2022
In the part-time studies program, it is difficult for instructors to make a living as the money is so-so and there are very few benefits with a lack of job security. However, you do get a reasonable amount of freedom in your teaching which is nice. You don't have someone breathing down your neck at your work as other institutions have. I still say that overall BCIT is a good place to work, it just suffers the same issues as many other universities.
Pros
Great students, nice campus, some freedom
Cons
No job security in PTS, no benefits, so-so pay

Business Development Manager (Current Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 12 August 2023
BCIT provides various learning and career opportunities to employees, faculty and management. In order to be familiar with the work, I advise new employees to experience a full academic calendar to get a full picture of the role and responsibilities.
