Interesting work and people
Armed Guard (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 15 April 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you like the clinking and clanking of a armoured vehicle, this job is for you. If you like getting asked stupid questions daily like “any free samples?” this job is for you. Decent equipment and decent company to work for. Mostly minimum wages for guarding money. Can be dangerous but great experience for police wannabes. Management is ok.
Pros
Good equipment
Cons
Low pay, bad hours, not allot of advancement

Toxic coworkers and brutal union environment
Armed Guard & Driver (Former Employee) - Ontario - 27 June 2023
Everyone starts on a PT contract with variable hours. At times you are working overtime and other times barely 1 or 2 shifts a week. Coworkers that are FT treat PT employees like trash. Vehicles are barley operating with various safety concerns. Lack of pay for the risk of carrying a firearm with large amounts of cash. You can make more at a fast food restaurant with zero risk. Avoid if possible!
Pros
Experience for other law enforcement jobs
Cons
Long hours, coworkers, managers, vehicles, safety

Jobs at Brink's Canada
Good place to work
Armed Guard (Former Employee) - London - 6 March 2023
Worked here for alot of years. Bounced between full and part time depending on the branches needs. I loved alot of the people I worked with...others, not so much...like any job like this, you get people that try to act like cops, or someone of authority. Super embarrassing, but a great partner always makes an amazing shift. Management was great, always worked with my schedule, got called for OT during the busy times etc. We shot twice a year to keep our skills up which is agreat. Like any job, it would always pay more but I really liked the job. Moved on because I needed full time, dependable hours.
Pros
The people and morale
Cons
When it's slow...its SLOW. May only get a couple shifts

Good experience not enough pay
Payroll Specialist (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 21 November 2022
good experience but pay was low, a lot of turn over and not enough training which resulted in learning the role on my own.

No future here
Armed Guard/Driver (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 17 May 2022
Senior workers get away with doing minimal work while junior and part time workers have to pick up their slack. Management changes unfortunately resulted in loss of work and a general down spiral of the company's future
Pros
Plenty of overtime available
Cons
Poor management

Dying industry made worse by incompetent leadership
Armed Guard and Driver (Current Employee) - Northern Ontario - 12 May 2022
I have never seen a more disorganized company. No opportunity for advancement and employees are treated with disrespect by management. Hours are not stable, and overtime cannot be refused, contrary to what you are told. The companies profits and goals are all that matters, how it’s done and how they treat their employees is of no consequence.
Pros
Carry a firearm
Cons
Unstable hours, incompetent management, toxic work environment

Great co workers
Armoured truck Guard/Driver (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - 5 May 2022
My co workers were great. But management especially at the higher levels are running the company into the ground. The equipment has gotten better over the years and there is semi annual gun range training. Sometimes long hours if your truck breaks down.
Pros
Do your job and go home. Co-workers. Benefits
Cons
No real option for breaks or lunch breaks.

Not for everyone
Armoured Guard (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 4 May 2022
Do not expect to be paid on time. Favouritism. They do not follow seniority rules. Management does not help out employees with any problems. Supervisors bully employees. Break security protocols
Pros
Quitting
Cons
Management

Not a Great Place To work
Front Line Worker (Current Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 10 April 2022
The Company had gotten very Toxic. And they are losing contracts every week. The company, is about to under go a big over haul, and a lot of people will be losing their jobs. And the ones that get to stay, are about to get really bad working hours.

Dying business
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 17 March 2022
Great place if you are in the union. However DO NOT ACCEPT A SUPERVISOR OR MANAGEMENT POSITION. Here is why: you will work 5 to 10 hours of unpaid overtime a week. You have to pay for benefits, unlike the union employees, unused sick days are lost unlike the union employees, ON call 24 7, which will result in mental health issues and failed relationships. Work day never ends, unlike union employees who cannot be forced into overtime, regardless of whether their work is complete or not. Called at all hours in the night. Especially on long weekends. When the company wants to save money, they take it from the management employees. Forced to cover union employees' shifts if coverage is not found. Along with completing your regular work. If a union employee works 2 overtime shifts a month, they will make more then a management employee.
Pros
Stay in the union. Management is afraid of them
Cons
Never accept a supervisor or management position.

Becoming obsolete
Brinks armored truck (Current Employee) - Etobicoke, ON - 11 March 2022
Not needed in a debit card world. Society is becoming cashless resulting in lack of work and numerous lay offs. I would not recommend as a long term plan

Low pay, no respect, management and employees don’t get along.
Vault Cashier/Messenger/Guard/Driver (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 16 February 2022
No future that industry gets getting smaller. Less cash is being circulated which means less work. ATM machine are also using less service so less work. The future for this type of business will be very small. Most full time positions are replaced by partime.
Pros
Easy job
Cons
No value for employees

Would not recommend this job
Armed Guard (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 13 January 2022
Hard to get hours and sustain a living as you will be working days and nights with only 4 days notice of when you work each week. Union doesn't help you and poor work atmosphere.
Pros
Decent wage
Cons
Dangerous road conditions in winter Poor work atmosphere Union does not help you

Good job, ridiculous senior management team
Customer Service/Dispatcher (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 11 December 2021
The management team not only micro manage they NANO manage you, and God forbid if you make a mistake. New management twam always want to being their previous teams from previous places rather than entrusting the ones that have been working there. This place is going downhill rather than uphill. If something doesn't change for this particular management team, they will be running everything on their own. Pros: colleagues, the work & flexible hours
Pros
Coworkers
Cons
Management team

Driver/Guard (Former Employee) - Quebec City, Qc - 5 September 2021
Cash transit is declining rapidly but the company is creative in finding new markets and goods to transport. Having a good coworker is important. When possible I was the on 4 x10h work week, which was nice.
