Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Regina, SK

Doesn't Walk the Talk
Pretty place and pretty words, but rotten core. Punitive management style when challenged. Staffing mix inappropriate for complexity of care which is greater than what I expected of an institution under the personal care home act. It's more appropriately a complex long term care home imo. I feel to continue to work there would be a risk to my safety and license.

Stressful work place
Less salary, shortage staff, too much work……Disorganized, no system.Very good residents love them….. heavy workload like PCH or hospital work…. Even if you suggestion- they will listen you but not for implementing.if doesn’t matter for you, what’s going on around you means -coworker working as he or she should be, but not working same way, you don’t care then very good place for you, can stay years and years, if not than this is not your place.

Not worth it
Good hours, lots of opportunities for OT because they are short staffed all the time. Pay and management is not great. Not enough employee appreciation. High turnover, working short staffed most of the time which increases the work load. Management has no on call protocol to help out RA”s when we are short staffed. Doing the same work as a HCA but at a lower wage , does not matter if you have your certification. Better off working for WRHA if you have your certification. There is also very little opportunity to advance with the company.

Having the pleasure of caring for our residents each day is fulfilling!
This is a great place to work. There are of course challenges to every job, this community is no different. There is always so much love from our residents and it's the best part of any day visiting with them. Leadership is learning to improve and moral is boosting. Hopefully we can fill our community with likeminded, hardworking, kind individuals and excel. Each department is intertwined and learning everyday to work together more and more. Only up from here.
