Want to work at a company that embraces back stabbing and zero accountability then sign up. Feel bad for anyone working for Brenntag. Get out while you can

First off let me say. Brenntag as a company is great. Paid time off paid lunches on events and great pay.
HOWEVER

Management is a complete joke. Favourtism is live and well. I was verbally attacked by an employee and their so called "0 tolerance policy" has a tolerance. That same employee then hit me with a forklift and again their 0 tolerance never came into effect. Management will go above and beyond to protect those who kiss their behind. Etobicoke warehouse is a joke!!

Management will also tell you to take initiative and do things on your own in meetings but in actual work you get yelled at and questioned "why are you cleaning? See me first" very confusing direction. Was depressed everyday.

Ontop of that. Safety is not number 1 at this warehouse. Vent filters have not been changed for over 20 years according to manager. How great to breathe in right? Faulty railing that are rusted and missing bolts. And their stairs has a water leak from the roof you can fall down over 30 steps!!

If you love your life. Dont work at Etobicoke Brenntag
Pros
Pay. Lunch. Benefits
Cons
Management. HR. Union. Favourtism. Bullying. Depressing. Degrading.

Managers and office workers are very nice. Everyone is treated with respect. There is always work to do and you will have to multitask which made it fun for me.

I was an account manager and was out searching for new clients daily, making sure the cients i had to take care of were also happy. I put on lots of miles traveling all over Northern Alberta, lots of preparing quotes and online meetings.

The holidays program was pretty good.
The sick time was good.

The benefits were pretty good.

In general my coworkers were pretty nice.

I did not care for senior management at all.

Low to middle management was ok.

great place to work. Had great team to work with. It was the management that did nothing but lie to their employees. After the merge with another company everything really went downhill from there. Removed a lot of good hard working people just to make room for new employees from a similar co and refused to follow the parent company policies. People in management that shouldnt be there as they are useless but think they are doing good.

Hired to change culture and train existing staff, after change was implemented and staff trained, Management laid off me due to restructuring.
This is not a forward looking company... beware

Its a fast paced job, lots of blends to make, everything from unloading trains and trucks, packaging and blending and everything in between requires special PPE, including Anti static everything. Attention to detail is extremely important, being exposed to harmful chemicals and fumes, gasses, liquids can be unnerving and stressful, but with the great people working there you are in great company and they don't cut costs or corners. It was an amazing time and company I had the pleasure of working for.

Brenntag "WAS" a great place to work, a very close knit team environment up until recent Acquisitions and the current President.

Sales department is treated completely differently than the Operational departments. Mostly Sales personal have zero knowledge of what they are actually selling, all they know is they have to sell or they will be discarded.

Corporate office has been decimated this last year, which is a shame as they were an integral part of the organization.

The company continues to struggle attracting good long term employees, because it is full of so many people that wouldn't be employed anywhere else. HR department is a disaster, running around trying to make people feel good with Ice Cream days and BBQ's whilst in the background releasing long term employees because the people running the company have zero long term plan. Oil and Gas team has no chance of surviving the current downturn in the market.

I worked here in a middle management level for 9 years, it was a great place to work but over the last year the company has struggled to define it's place in the marketplace, trying to be everything to everyone, which leads to many internal issues and customer issues, but ultimately it leads to there being no plan from the executive team.

If you must work here, gain some knowledge and build a good base and Join one of the larger true chemical manufacturers. Chemical distribution is a home for sales personal to land when they are released from the big guys.

Good luck Brenntag Canada, hopefully you will get things turned around, but with he current

Upper management are out of touch with the day to day operations of sites. Lower management have always been fair, safety focused and seem to care about their operators.
Pros
good hours, only day-shifts, overtime is often available.
Cons
Pay increases are small and out of touch with the industry.

Awesome people below management in Toronto. They do not look at knowledge as a benefit to the company. Two managers for let go that had huge impact on the company during their time and they didn't care they let them go. list goes on and on with bad decisions from corporate.
Pros
Great middle level management, work load was generous but ok
Cons
executive management make terrible decisions, HR director at this time doesn't have a clue.
