horrible company
autobody tech (Current Employee) –  winnipeg2 May 2019
regional manager in Manitoba is a total control freak and has absolutely zero people skills or any understanding of the auto body repair process.. the assistant is even worse, thinks shes a manager coming around yelling at everyone for the smallest mistakes, it contributes nothing to helping or improving what problems are there. Its like a 3rd world country in their shops, very dirty, dusty, poorly lit, spray booth leaks paint into the shop , old outdated equipment, and just a ton of pressure and panic to produce.

they will come and constantly tell you you aren't going fast enough or doing things wrong but offer no guidance or support to improve the situation because they dont know what they are doing or how to help.

if you value yourself and take pride in what you do and actually want to take your career to the next level , do not work here. there are lots of options for the autobody industry, dont allow yourself to be treated badly by these people at boyd.

Auto Body Technician (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB1 September 2018
Boyd cares about 1 things
Profits
They do not care about their staff. They treat employees like they are disposable and hence the reason they are CONTINUOUSLY running ads looking for techs. They are a revolving door. In my opinion BOYD should focus more on keepinf employess happy instead of trying to replace them. Quality in workmanship has dropped. I went into a shop the was owned privately and within 2 years of Boyds taking over the shop is run down, dirty, unorganized and empty
IMO I would not work again here unless it was an absolute last resort
Pros
Good group of technicians
Cons
Poor mamagement to run the shop

automotive painter (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB5 March 2018
Be careful this company has some good locations to work in , this one that is advertising now though isnt one of them. manager is dis repectful to his employees and the calgary south location has gone through a lot of workers. You will be expected to put out way more door hrs then you get paid for.
Pros
good equipment, not enough to go around though and you cannot use your own tools
Cons
cant supply your own tools, expectations way to high for a new employee

Filing Clerk (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB14 August 2017
employers were very nice, had no problems, a typically day at work would be fun, sometimes hard when things were not originally in place, the hardest part of the job would be having to work in quiet in slow past. enjoyable part would be everyone was very friendly and helped out a lot, specially with communication.
Pros
friendly employees
Cons
slow days

HR Generalist (Current Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB9 June 2017
I get along well with my co-workers at Boyd, and the managers are hard-working. I've seen the managers take steps to become better leaders and mentors for their staff, and they are learning to be more compassionate and to improve communication in the workplace.
Pros
Management, Lots of hours available, Friendly co-workers, Paid training and development

Terrible place to work
Parts Manager (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB8 May 2017
I worked there for 3 years and i would rather be homeless living on the street than go work for this company again. Profits are the only thing that matters to this company. The managers are useless and the regional manager is very rude and will yell at you in front of your coworkers and customers.

Production Manager (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB22 February 2017
Generally enjoyed working at Boyd Autobody when I first started. Has great potential to be a good job. However, it is a corporate company which means changes come all the way from the stop, and are made as a one way fits all shops kind of deal which is just incorrect. Lots of meetings, lots of stress, not enough pay.
Pros
Good Staff
Cons
Poor Wage

I worked there for 1.5 years not a single raise. I was praised for good work but than was told I should work harder. Never missed a day, was never late. I left this job because the regional manager is a total joke. He's a terrible manager who has no heart for anyone.
Cons
Long hours, no raises
