Labourer / Skilled labourer / Gradesman / Equipment Operator in Imperial oil Kearl

Fantastic people with diverse cultures. A great relaxed place to work.
I have been with Bouchier for over 2 years. I have been treated very well. Fantastic co workers and for the most part all management.Like any company, Bouchier strives to improve but can be limited based upon contractual agreements. This can lead to unscheduled layoffs and lack of promotion.Without knowing their actual agreements I have to assume a standard of living cost increase for longer term employees throughout the life of the contract have not been taken into account. Pay can decrease upon the client requesting so however to benefit Bouchier on this side they do their best to keep their employees especially the ones who work hard and strive for working in a safe environment. The owners truly believe in treating people fairly from what I can tell and do their best to improve environments that have broken down through unsuccessful lower management. Is there preferred treatment of employees, yes but nothing outside the norm of any other organization. What started for me as a short term gig has turned into something I see staying for the long haul.Training is good but expect it to come mostly from your peers outside of safety related training which is fantastic.Work life balance is excellent if you don’t mind working a compressed work schedule. Overtime is almost non existent but can occur at times as they have enough employees typically to cover shortages and to reduce stress on their contractual obligations. All in a fantastic relaxed place to work with great mentors and peers.

What I have learned
It’s not a bad place to work just has really bad leadership and if not a friend or buddy of your foreman will not be treated the same as others the only people that matter is the big shots in the office they foreman’s for the most part all ignorant to there crews with a few good ones that care and are good so it’s hit and miss I do not recommend this company to anyone

There are a lot of promises but never delivered
Company is run not for the employees but for the owners they don’t care about you. You are just a number and billable hours for them could careless about you. Other then that great place to work.
