Good for some quick cash
Housekeeping (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON31 May 2019
The feeling of being nothing more than just nameless, faceless worker is very present: upper management to foremen, and foremen to workers. It's not that bad depending on who is above you, but there's been many times where I was called out for not working even though there was nothing to actually do, an expectation of business perhaps caused by the location.

The benefits that you get as an employee are minimal, at least officially, breakrooms have normal priced vending machines and that's about it. That being said, other people working in different branches, ride operators, food vendors, etc might spot you a drink or a free ride, but if that doesn't rev your engine, that's too bad.

Not much to say really, its a summer job meant for students, benefits and friendly people above you are not to be expected, but that also means that not too much is expected of you.
Pros
Pretty OK fellow employees, free park admission (not really a bonus tbh)
Cons
Odd scheduling practices, lenient bosses

Cleaner (Part-time) (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON25 January 2019
management was different all the time, difficult to talk to a lead because there were so many. easy to get a job during the summer, pay is minimum, might not get the section you desired.

The staff is good at helping the workers get to their areas to work and provide them anything they need to do a task. This Job requires you standing for a long period of time, but breaks are provided to workers.
Pros
You can end off the summer working at the Ex and earn decent money

good for your first job
Housekeeper (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON9 August 2017
if you're a highschool student in need of a summer job, exhibition place hires hundreds of kids for about 3 weeks for the CNE to be on garbage/washroom duty. you can choose to stay with them after the CNE for other events throughout the year. the scheduling for work is very flexible outside of the CNE. if you want more work you call them up and ask for more, if you want less and they'll change it for you (just don't ask for a lot of shifts then turn around and tell them you're not available).

the actual work is simple and can be pretty boring quite often as you'll most likely work alone in your section. might be a little hard at first because you'll be on your feet for the entirety of your shift. job advancement wise you could get promoted to lead hand in a year or two, and there's pretty much nothing after that. most of the foremen are lifers that have been there for 15-20 years.

management in the case of your foremen and event coordinators are pretty good. they're not unreasonable and only expect you to do your share of the work. they've been there for years and have seen it all, so most are pretty chill.

coworkers are a mix of lifers and students. the atmosphere is fairly well and there isn't much drama or cliques.

overall it's a decent job if you're a student looking for some spending money or work experience.
Pros
flexible schedule, managers are pretty good overall
Cons
very little job advancement

Good place to work however at times confusions arise due to lack of processes
Accounting Manager (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON11 April 2017
Overall a good place and benefits, however confusions arise as at times level of reporting is missed. Processes need to be setup. Any change takes time since as part of City, it takes long for any changes to be approved. But in the end, there is good team spirit and work life balance.

not fair in hiring
General Accountant/Financial Analysis (Current Employee) –  Downtown, Toronto10 April 2017
a City agent and more people there started long time ago with low education background. The position and salary is not based on qualifications but on years of service. No equal hiring opportunity.

Food Server (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON10 October 2015
Expected to know everything even without training, had to pay to get in, had to pay for the food you make and eat yourself. co-workers were nice but most were very gossipy. Some co-workers tried really hard to get you fired even though you have done nothing wrong.
Cons
one time fee of food
