it is a nice place to learn about hospitality and develop your skills and meet awesome people that make you feel like you are in family but at some point you have to leave and go for more if you want to develop your career .

Great co-workers, aweful upper management

Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 22 March 2023

Staff is friendly and collaborative. Front Desk management is great, always willing to help and to check on how are you doing as a person and as an employee. Unfortunately upper management works as HR and will be very rude towards employees and even make you feel you are being discriminated against with the constant mention on how to speak "proper english" to international employees. Compensation is not enough for work load as you will be performing extra tasks not all front desk agents will be requiered to do in most hotels. Locally owned and operated makes it hard to find growth opportunities.

Blue Horizon is one place that I've worked for more than 1-year and was easy going and pretty fun to work for. They have a nice staff and restaurant is very organized in terms of management.

Have to either be on the line preparing customer orders, or prepping food for either service or banquets. Can be stressful especially when someone is sick or too many things going on at once and don't have enough support

Great staff and environment. Horrible management

The most amazing staff I’ve ever worked with. Everyone is friendly and nice. The front office management is amazing, very flexible with schedule. However upper management is horrible. They are rude and create an unsupportive workplace where everyone is afraid of making mistakes. There’s no staff appreciation at all. HR is not easily accessible for employees.

Good Place to Work

Been working at Blue Horizon for approximately 4 years- a great place to work. It's a small boutique hotel- all staffs know each other, fun to hang out with. Flexible with the schedule if you give them heads up.

Fair and fun place to work

The hotel is beautiful, amazing location, in the heart of downtown. Easy to commute here. A fair workplace culture for a diversified environment. We have an open communication with the higher/highest management level. The coworkers here are some of the most down to earth people I've ever met, and they're also coming from all around the world, which provides you with an opportunity to learn about how other parts of the world live. Managers are never afraid to step in and help when needed. The people I have the opportunity to meet and work with in the hotel is the highlight of everyday, always smiling and easy to talk to.

Would not recommend working here. Very poor management that is unsupportive and rude to staff. No staff meals, staff events or appreciation. Unionized environment

great staff strange management

great staff to work with but unfortunately very strange housekeeping management be warned the housekeeping management speak little to no proper english and give vague assignments, rude and often hostile towards employees, people skills are lacking complaints have been received about it but the owner refuses to change the management

Safe environment

Enjoy the team work, we were one. Providing good services makes the work worth full. Communication is very important. No parking space for stuff... not convenient.
