Great people, good pay, management needs improvement

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Too many employees in managerial roles. Communication is poor between shifts/departments, and floor is similar to a unionized environment without union protection. So many pros to name all including pay scale, benefits and workplace safety. Too much thought and emphasis on continuos improvement for the way it is implemented. Money wasted on unnecessary positions and events. Doesn't matter how hard you work as long as you show up. Emphasis is on attendance not performance. Overall good place to work keep your personal life separate.

Pros

Free snacks, coffee, pay, benefits

Cons

Management, poor outlook on health related absenteeism, emphasis on attendance not performance

Management is a farce

Your a puppeteer . In my earlier years of employment. It was a good company to work for. Management understood your needs. Old school ways. Today with employees coming off the floor with online schooling to become managers..there heads expand so big with power they forget how it was working on the floor and keep power tripping. Be yourself, if you don't butter up to Management, consider yourself a target. If you for some reason get hurt while working....its a BIG NO NO ....the company will harass you to get back to working asap even when your not able to. Lack of respect as an individual. Your working for the company, follow all what's expected of you to obtain a weekly paycheck. But if for some reason your supervisor has grief towards you. It can be miserable . Good luck

Pros

Free coffee

Cons

A drama Palace

Fun Place to work really kind people, like a family atmosphere

Work difficulty varies depending on where you work, Mazak operators and Body Heat treat operators jobs are notoriously difficult and sweaty but compared to other work places still pretty easy jobs. I worked on Rail Heat Treat which was medium difficulty and I enjoyed that Job and developed a good routine...

EXTREMELY toxic environment ,Managers have NO clue how to treat team members and there is a lot of favoritism.

Was a great family oriented and professional place to work, up until new management rolled in and they are all friends, John Cleghorn has to be one of the worst managers of them all and two faced. Only cares about himself and treats everyone like garbage .Horrible human being

No job security after a lifetime

If you dont mind being just a number and trusting no body you're good. It's all about profits NOT people as they would try to have you believe. Keep your head down and mouth shut. Smile and nod when it's your turn.

Pros

A few good people

Cons

They call it management

Great place to work

I worked night shift which was getting hard for me but the company and benefits were amazing...the work was not too difficult, night shift was a 7 1/2hr shift but got paid for 8

Pros

Great pay and benefits

Cons

Do not let go by seniority

Over time I felt underutilized.

In early years of employment, challenges and opportunities to solve problems were enjoyable to take on. Over time when company direction changed, I eventually became underutilized.

Factory

It's a factory, no denying it. A fairly relaxed place to work over all. Even working at 75% effort you will hit your numbers if you are organized and competent. Some of the managment/supervisors are really stupid plus they play favourites. As well as family members in there, they stick together and promote the butt kissers. But hey, turn your brain off and work kind of place if you want it.

Worked with a great group of people who made work fun and a positive experience. The company treated us great with surprise lunches and a hand shake. Felt like a important part of the bigger picture.

The people are great and make this place fun

Good place to work. Pay is good and never have mandatory overtime. People are friendly and always willing to help and show you easier ways of doing the jobs.

Pros

Cons

Great benefits and...that is all.

Free coffee and donuts, pretty good dental plan, and relatively good pay. Otherwise, Blount is boring and backwardly managed. The manufacturing operation is split into three departments—Bars, Chain, and Sprockets. These are the replaceable components of a chainsaw. Most Blount employees prefer to work in the Chain department, though each department has its pros and cons.

Pros

Free donuts on Wednesdays

Cons

Soul-sucking, heartless corporation that will bore you to tears.

Productive & enjoyable place to work

Lots to keep you busy! Time usually goes by quickly. Great training & lots of teams to participate in. Job shadowing available to observe a position you're interested in. Open door policy. Learn about different industrial processes, inventory, measuring & inspection gadgets, activity management, strategic planning, communication, individual work & team work & how they effect each other. Very physical work. Work stays at work when you go home.

Pros

Employee Incentives, Christmas turkey

Cons

A lot of dirty jobs

They take care of employees

Very nice management. Great working conditions. Lots of room for advancement and continuous learning. Free turkeys at Christmas, social club. The hours can be long but it is worth it. Very good training program.

This is a job worth doing.

It is a hidden gem, well worthy of anyone looking to start a good solid career. Great jobs within, and excellent wages. The fellow employees are an older team, and always willing to help new folks in there journey.

Pros

Lots of awesome little perks.

Cons

Job security is questionable, but nothing to worry about.

Not a bad place to work. Still though, it's a boring, menial factory job.

Typical day -- show up, do the exact same thing you did the day before. What I learned -- how to cope with extreme boredom Management -- Fair and friendly, fairly hands off in their approach. In my opinion the best part of the job at Blount was the great supervisors and managers

Pros

Cafeteria, Paid Xmas break, lots of OT available

Cons

Boring, Repetitive

Good factory job

It is pretty much what you would expect from a factory job, good pay lots of heavy lifting, shift work. That kind of stuff. They have a good cafeteria though.
