I've been working at Blackbird in a marketing role for about 4 months now, and it has honestly been a great experience. The office environment is very warm and welcoming and everyone is willing to help out if you have any questions or concerns. My job entails managing our social media channels and well as taking video/pictures of our different sites/guards. Working with the management and the owners on this has been nothing but pleasant, and I often find myself feeling grateful to have this opportunity. As far as the day-to-day, the work varies and no two days are the same, which makes it engaging and exciting. Overall, I would absolutely recommend working here, especially if your just joining the workforce out of university and need experience and a place to settle and grow.

if you don't like work variety and no two days being the same, it may take time to adapt

Worst company to work for

Absolutely toxic work culture. Owners have no idea what they are doing. Plainclothes security taking uniform shifts because of turnover. Can't keep employees and contracts. This company is going downhill fast. They hire so much because the management is horrible and the turnover is extremely high. If you're a warm body, you got a job. Want a cool vest? Sure! No plates or anything to protect you though.

Was promised a raise after 3 months , nothing was given. After 6 months , i got a 50 cent raise ONLY because base Secuity pay in the Province I worked at went up to $19.50, pretty much a middle finger to the employees.

Non productive toxic environment

Getting hired is fairly easy they’re just looking for extra bodies to replace turnovers are pretty high. Pay is alright for a security salary, and overall job isn’t difficult. Worst part definitely management and supervisors they are non existent no communication at all you have to go through a hassle to find them. Plus you will make a lot of mistakes because they training is horrible. Definitely do not care for employees as I said just another body.

What is the best part of working at the company?Very personal connections with superiors. Lots of opportunities for advancement.What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Blatantly lie to you. Was promised a supervisor position and pay raise from my boss only for them to give it to someone else without notice after I had held the position for a month. What is the best part of working at the company?Great company mgmt all have frontline experience and knoweleged in security work. Watched go from new small time company and now sence dominated the industry. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Not stressfull per say if previous experience. But having to deal with alot of persons who are living in a difficult part of time in there life, and possibly have issues with authority and or feel that they are being singled out. So good communication skills, compassion, and being non judgmental are key.What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very team work orientented. Everyone stays connected via whats app. This way everyone gets a sence of whats going on and trends at different sites and locations. Mannagers will frequantly stop by and cgeck to see how things are going make sure on your well being and are avaliable for assistance at any time.What is a typical day like for you at the company?Depending the on the site (myself was working LP) arrive at site 15 min priir to starting, sign in company log book, get intouch with the sites MOD to let thrm know that they have security, ask if anything that needs extra focus start patrols and follow standard protocal and sop if any issues arrise during shift.

I enjoy working for Blackbird security. The site center for new comers is a nice full-time job, and place to work at. I definitely feel that my mental health course/ community support and addictions, definitely help me out with employment opportunities at this place. One of my modules I studied was working with immigrants, and refugees.

Blackbird is a terrible company. They treat you like a number and not a human being, you certainly don’t matter to them. The only thing they care about is keeping contracts which they rarely do.

Flexible Part-Time Work

Blackbird offers a highly flexible schedule. You simply submit your availability weekly, and management schedules you in accordance with your availability. The managers/supervisors are courteous, professional, and helpful. The work can often be difficult and somewhat dangerous (which is unavoidable in security), but management tries to station guards at sites based on their experience.

Unfair paid

This company has their own overtime policy which is unfair you need to get more than 80 hours to be paid for overtime. If you work 12 hours during a day you won’t get overtime.
