From a management perspective, the company demands and expects a very high-level of commitment and dedication to the job. Daunting for some, but the companies risen to the size where ownership's "people first" mentality just isn't the case anymore. Optics and reputation outside the group in the community as well as market share and profitability has consumed it. Don't get me wrong, this is what business's are around for but personally feel the attempts to be "people first" while displaying the opposite from the top down is disingenuous. If your looking for a company that "has your back" perhaps search elsewhere.
Pros
Competitive Salaries, company events (christmas parties), weekend lunches
Cons
work-life balance, long-hours

Overall, great place to work.
Fast paced, high stress environment but if all goals are achieved, it becomes a very rewarding experience. Would love to be back!

They’ll just tell everybody what they want to hear, make you feel real good about the job, tell you you’re exactly what they’re looking for. Then you’ll never hear from them again. Everybody is super friendly to your face, but they’re just full of it.

Really enjoyed all the training that was provided however never really got along with management because of how shady of the things they did were. Great for the experience.

If you want to come out ahead you need to put in the hours to earn trust and respect. Late Nights.

Management has no idea how to manage, the place was a three ring circus. Training was done based on when they felt like it and there was no consistency so half of the staff did things one way and half did things another. They will tell you that you can make all kinds of money but that will only happen if most of the staff quits and you become an “inbound” agent which can take a couple of months or years, until then it’s making lousy outbound calls and getting paid minimum wage.

Was with the group for many years and enjoyed my time with them. The only issue that I had was upper management with JP and MR. I did learn a lot from the stores and the environments I was put into

Just like a typical car dealership; they pay flat rate so you’re constantly rushed while being underpaid, they claim to have the most ‘up to date’ equipment but we don’t even own a washing machine to wash our rags with (not including the fact that they still use newspaper to clean windows).

Management doesn’t even inspect the customers car before giving them an estimate of completion, whether the car is brand new or the filthiest we’ve ever seen they still seem to say ‘we’ll pay you about an hour for this one.’

Coworkers hate each other, it’s a constant race to see who can get the most jobs while making each other feel like they aren’t good enough hoping they’ll quit before they take more work away from us.

Overall a horrible place to work if you have any sort of standards for yourself or your profession.

Working here gave me an opportunity to develop the skills I had and learn new ones. Management is always pushing you to be the best version of yourself. You will work with many talented and interesting people.

They will offer you the world to get you in the door after 2 weeks you'll realise it was all lies. The hours they force you to work are ridiculous. The wages they promise are very very exaggerated. They will tell you between 150-180 thousand a year and it's a flat out lie. There's no way anyone in sales makes that much money on their pay plans and if you do okay for a year they will fix that in February when they force you to sign a new contract. They also make you sign away any stat pay in your orientation package. Every year they decrease your wages not increase them. Management is a joke. FREE FOOD IS NOT A PERK! SALES PEOPLE WANT MONEY NOT CHEAP GREASY FOOD.

I am reposting this one as i couldnt word it better myself. You know there is a problem when your first week all your fellow technicians warn you about How birchwood doesnt care about there technicians..

Corporate rules don't match day to day operations, favorites are played, low wage compared to other dealerships, funny enough you are expected to work longer than your shift without pay. Poor support for shop personnel with extremely high pressure for production. Unless you want to feel like a piece of furniture in the building go work somewhere that will appreciate your efforts without having to constantly curry favor for decent paying work. They like to treat journeyman like apprentices
Pros
Fully paid benefits was the only pro
Cons
No job security after 15 months

Birchwood gives you an amazing environment to learn and grow professionally and personally. The management at Birchwood really works to promote people within, and put value on family/balanced living. There are various leadership courses and support that you can have to continue growing within the group.

Used to be a great company but alot of key people left amd their replacements are ruining the companies reputation.

The chipmans are wonderful people but it stops there.

The pay is terrible compared to other dealerships/auto groups and they intentionally cut wages every year.
Pros
Can advance easily if you know the right people
Cons
Long hours, low pay, promote the wrong people

This was a very fast paced business. I had the opportunity to learn quite a bit about how a dealership is run. The people I worked with were great as well as dealing with customers one on one.
