Work at your own pace but stick to deadlines
Content Coordinator (Current Employee) - Brantford, ON - 12 September 2023
When you are on a contract with BVM, it is strictly a part time position. A content coordinator is paid $500/month, which isn't too bad, it takes about 10 hours a month to do the work. The hardest part of the job is finding people willing to be featured in the magazine. It's also annoying that they have advertised that they are accepting articles for filler but aren't willing to pay for them, nor will they tell the author if the article has been accepted/rejected or published (where, how many magazines etc.) Sorry but I don't work for free. The best part is getting to know people and businesses in the area.
Pros
remote work on my own time
Cons
no opportunities for promotion or wage increase

15 September 2023The Content Coordinator role is a perfect fit for talented writers looking to earn additional income. Submitting filler articles is completely optional. It's an excellent way for our writers to have their articles published in more areas if they wish to do so.
Flexible, remote work
Writer/Content Coordinator (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 31 July 2022
Workload at one magazine is 3x what it was two years ago, as I am working without a publisher. Not a great situation. Very hard to find new families to profile in monthly feature article. This is probably my toughest task.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
Calls and emails at all hours, no opportunities for advancement, hard to get annual raises or cost-of-living increases, no benefits, no sick days, zero vacation time

Top Shelf Organization
Publisher (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 13 June 2022
I can’t say enough about the leadership in this company. It’s not an easy challenge at all. But the rewards are there and the people and culture are second to none.
Pros
Huge Income Potential 7 figures
Cons
It’s about 3-6 months without income

14 June 2022Thanks so much for the great review! The BVM Publisher role is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to build and grow their own business.
very competitive no pay until publication after multiple deals you close on your own.
Associate Publish (Former Employee) - Tecumseh, ON - 21 December 2021
Cold calls everyday. Every meeting u get from cold calls maybe 1/10 will close sometimes many more. No pay til u have many closings to finally publish
Pros
If you hit the enough sales, Money can be good, Residual income
Cons
Not a penny will be made until after publication and takes time. Until then you need money to live, bills, gas, insurance driving everywhere, calling 4 hours a day of cold calls you search on your own. Not easy.

Good coaching but not financially sustainable
Associate Publisher (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 24 March 2021
Coach and supervisors are welcoming and helpful, it is really hard to get small businesses enrolled in their programs as they are set. It takes a lot to get a sale and to receive a minimum salary by commission. Worked 10 hrs/day, weekends, and it didn't pay off.

Growth, Support, Compassionate Hearts!
Publisher (Current Employee) - Ontario - 6 September 2020
Business to business sales & support. The most impactful magazines since 2007 & going into 2020 with digital media. Start the day with a conference call full with motivational & informative content, also, once a week Q&A with the CEO Dave Durand. Working from home & being an independant contractor includes the benefit of going at your own pace, though it is encouraged to stay to the formula & orthodox in your approach.
Pros
Work from home
Cons
None

Not Canadian enough
Content Coordinator (Former Employee) - York region - 1 July 2020
A very American company that doesn’t fit well with Canadian beliefs about inclusion. They consider Pride day “controversial” and would not allow any reference to pride in their articles or even calendar of events.
Pros
You work from home
Cons
Aggressive sales tactics and lack of communication

23 July 2020The Content Coordinator opportunity is an excellent way for freelance writers to write for a local magazine. We strive to offer an inclusive environment for our readers as well as everyone who works with BVM and we do not have restrictions on matters related to Pride Day.
Good concept for community-based monthly mgazines but content people are undervalued
Manager, Writer, Content Co-ordinator & Editor, Best Version Media (Current Employee) - Remote - 27 February 2020
Content coordinators are not paid enough for their work. The focus is on securing ads and making money and the content of the magazines is less important. Some magazines are great and that is because of the content people.

Most supportive environment imaginable
Publisher (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 15 January 2020
I worked with BVM Canada for almost 2 years. It is an AMAZING business. The only reason that I left was that I had personal family issues Those issues were continuous and they interfered with my work. I want to make it explicitly clear that BVM Canada was willing to accommodate me, but I wanted to sort my life out and I sincerely hope to return to them in the future.
BVM Canada provides you with everything you need to succeed right from the get go. Every single day after completing the intensive training there is further elective training that can be taken at no cost. All consumable presentation materials are provided free of charge and mailed directly to you as often as you need them. BVM Canada shares your successes. When you make a sale it is an AMAZING feeling. The only better feeling is when the president announces your name to whole company so everyone can feel the excitement! I have never felt so encouraged, supported, and valued in any other job.
Working with BVM Canada was by far the best employment experience I have ever had!
I am a far better person for having worked there.
If you're considering this as an opportunity, be warned, it takes considerable effort, but if you're willing to learn from your mistakes, follow the program, and sharpen your skills, in very short order you will be on the path to becoming the best version of you that you can be. Beyond that this job can be incredibly lucrative, but you will realize that shortly.
Apply if you're willing to learn and stay positive!

Very difficult to make a living getting magazine up and running
Publisher (Former Employee) - Ontario - 2 December 2019
I was very enthuised to work for BVM however, I did not realize the amount of work for little return. You should expect to work 12-15 hours per day (or more) for 6-9 months (or longer). Your savings need to carry you so you need to be willing to PART with your savings as you try to survive the passing mark from associate publisher to publisher...and there is still no guarantee. This is very much like real estate. 5-10% of publishers make lots of money...the rest are starving and the turnover is exceptionally high. It can be done...I saw great success stories but not many success stories.

Best version media
Personal Assistant (Former Employee) - Estevan, SK - 17 September 2019
I didn't work for this company directly but for an employee as an independent contractor. I did the stressful part of the job which was calling perspective clients. I wasn't paid in the end.

NOT a pyramid scheme
Publisher (Current Employee) - Canada - 13 August 2019
This company is not a pyramid scheme. This company will change your life. There is a reason it is called Best Version Media; not only is it the best way to reach a targeted market, it is the best way to be the best version of yourself!! Yes you are your own boss and yes you have to work hard at the start to make money and if you dont have a way to cover your bills covered for 1-6 months you should consider whether this is for you. If you can be humble and follow the teachings and the method they have, it will be worth it a 100 times over. Be ready, it forces you to hold yourself accountable and follow through on what you say. The support from management is top notch and they have all been through the ups and downs that all new publishers go through. I just launched my first magazine and it is more than I could have imagined! If you want to challenge yourself and do something that is good for the community, this is the place to be!
Pros
Income growth/Set your own schedule/Advancement opportunities
Cons
You are responsible for your own outcome

Total pyramid scheme. Don’t waste your time on this scam
Sales Representative (Former Employee) - St. John's, NL - 24 February 2019
A scam that will waste your time, money and energy. They require your to shoulder the risk and financial burden while they way for their cut. Their business model is to send out mass adds on job boards, send out a mass emails to show you the video of their lies. They hope to you snag you. They make you think your being personaly contacted. Once just to prove this after I quit , I applied to 3 different “positions “ with them and I was rehired 3 times. If a company isn’t interested in paying salaries or if your using your own transportation they don’t pay for gas then they are not legitimate company. Also under review by better business organization here in my province.
Pros
None!
Cons
A pyramid scheme.

Awesome leadership, Amazing culture
Publisher (Current Employee) - Ontario - 4 February 2019
Writing this review is tricky for me, because I did not reach the potential that I know exists in this company, but I don't blame the company for that.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with BVM, and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to stick to the program. Successful publishers in this company must be disciplined, organized, and self aware. There is big money to be made and it can be very rewarding - however, it won't come easily and it will take a LOT of self discipline on your part. Even though the management is there to support you whenever you need it, ultimately you are working for yourself and building YOUR business, since ultimately, you are the one that sets your own schedule and goals. No one will breathe down your neck to make you work, but no one is going to hold your hand either. Its all on you - for better or worse.
If you're a self starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, you can do very well in this company. But its not for everyone.
Pros
Amazing Leadership, Incredible support from management
Cons
Income depends on whether or not your clients pay bills, Print media is a tough sell, getting your foot in the door is #1 hurdle to new business

A good part-time job you can do from home
Content Coordinator (Former Employee) - Windsor, ON - 15 November 2018
This was a great job to have while in university/college. You can make your own hours and meet a lot of amazing local people. The pay wasn't fantastic but I had a lot of fun. I worked from home most of the time but there were opportunities to get out and attend local events to get stories to feature. I like to think this job gave me a taste of what its like to be a professional.
Pros
Work from home, make own hours
Cons
Low paying

Freelance
Layout Artist (Former Employee) - Canada - 28 August 2018
It's good for designers who want to supplement their income and work from home independently. Great procedures and protocol, supportive management team. In addition to graphic design skill must be strong with project management, admin and very assertive.

Great place to work
Publisher (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 25 January 2018
I love working with BVM. The two reasons why I chose to work with BVM is the culture and the opportunity. The culture is truly what the videos talk about. And the opportunity speaks for itself (although if you are not committed to work hard it might not work for you).
The people are also amazing to work with, and I have never worked in a place where there is so much support. Keep doing what you are doing BVM.
