Overall, I would rate working at Bench a good 4/5 stars. The people I worked with definitely made me feel at home. We treated each other like family and were very comfortable around one another. That goes without saying that not all work places will have the same people and judgement obviously. Upper management expects a lot with little time, notifying us with last minute set-ups and then expects us to finish it within a couple hours with a maximum of two people on the floor (no time to call people ahead).
The return policy is also ridiculous and gets us in trouble with customers most times even though it's something we can't control. Our employee discount is 40% off but most of the time, the store will have a sale for customers being 40% off (or more) anyway. No chance of using our discount on top of clearance.
There's not a lot of room for advancement either. We were in a rut one time because our main manager had quit suddenly while our assistant manager was on vacation and that left us with only two key holders. My assistant manager wanted to promote me to keys a while back (aside from the fact that we needed another person for management, I did a pretty good job doing the work) but our area manager at the time was hesitant and insisted we hired externally. In the end, they promoted me because there wasn't time to look outside of the company.
