Fun, stable, and engaging

BC Hydro is amazing place to work for non-skilled workers, given the time-off, benefits, job security and work-life balance. For engineers and other higher pay professionals, the salaries tend to be low compared to the private sector. The work itself is a lot of fun and the people who work there are a lot of fun to be around as well.

Born in another age.

Stifling. Stayed for the vacation. Stodgy employees. If you wish to be inoculated against working for the government take a job here. Culture is great but do not disagree or be shunned. People are very friendly as long as you are seen as an eccentric and not a threat.

Great working environment

I had a 4 month co-op with BCHydro. I really enjoyed working in the multi-cultural working environment. As a coop student there, everyone is very friendly and willing to pass me knowledge about power system/industry. The pay and benefits are excellent. It is definitely a great company for a power engineering.
