Small is mighty, I see and I love volunteering at BCChildren!
Sales and Cashier volunteer (Current Employee) - BC Children Gift Shop - 10 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? The care, happiness, and love I feel from each person who work there for the patients, the infrastructure, and the job they do. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I think it could be those times you see a child sick and you know that no matter how much you are willing to help, it might not provide the cure. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I feel absolutely comfortable with being there. Everything there is though and done to try making things lighter and easier for kids and their parents. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I would say, every day can be considered a typical day there! I don’t have any doubts about how much I love being there to help in some way.

Good learning opportunities, supportive
Research Assistant (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 25 October 2023
I got autonomy and independence as a research assistant. Pay is standard for research assistants. Learned a lot from a multidisciplinary team and also published 2-3 papers

Toxic
Motion Graphic Animator (Current Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 13 April 2022
The team tries to build a positive and cheerful environment, but in reality the work culture and people are passive aggressive, can’t speak out honestly.

Overall a good place to work at. Great benefits and work-life balance.
Medical Laboratory Technologist (Current Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 28 December 2021
Great benefits and pension plan. You start off with 4 weeks of vacation and accumulate one extra day of vacation every year after your 5th year. Great work life balance, you're not expected to work past your shift. Work can sometimes be mundane and there isn't a lot of room for advancement. Lots of people who are resistant to change and it takes forever to implement anything. Can feel very hierarchical.

Very Interesting Exposure
Program Assistant (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 11 December 2019
This contract position gave me new insight into a very specific area of BCCH, located at Sunny Hill.
Most of my day to day role was liaising with provincial stakeholders in the province and getting to know the inner workings of Nursing Support Services.
The team was creative and intelligent and taught me a lot. Everyone treated me like a valued member of something bigger, and I appreciated the opportunity I had, even if it was only for a year.

learned to think on my feet and gained a great reference. I recommend if you have just graduated and are looking for experience. You get out what you give to the time you spend there.

Jobs at BC Children's Hospital
Good job but too far to commute
Registrations and booking clerk (Current Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 12 February 2019
I've been here for over a year and found the drive just too far, as I live in the suburbs. The job itself if quite simple and straightforward. Since we are unionized, we are bound by the contract, which is good and bad. Great extended benefits.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Long comute

Support growth.
RN (Current Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 3 October 2018
Difficult to move laterally within PHSA, more realistic to move up then to a different kind of nursing. Overall the management is supportive though of your growth WITHIN your current practice.

Its a fast pace job and challenging, but i like it, its learning and fun to mingled people. co-workers are great, very professionals.
Hardest part are when parents are rude and grumpy. but enjoyable part are when patients and parents are so nice and when the doctors treat us for coffee and muffin :).
