Reviews for Bartender at Baymont Inn and Suites

Unprofessional and Abusive Management

I worked there as a banquet server and bartender and I experienced a constant shock and dismay at the complete and total lack of professionalism and industry standard good practices by management and untrained staff. The management was always late with our paychecks and our credit card tips were kept by them. Abusive management and hostile work environment is why I quit.

Pros

Good amount of hours.

Cons

Late with pay, shorting us on our hours worked, management steals tips, rude and hostile management.

Loved my job, but poorly managed

I was gracious when the Baymont gave me a chance to work for them as I was having difficulty finding employment because of my criminal background. I was employed as a bartender and a cook which allowed me full time hours in the two fields I know and excell in. They gave me a chance when it seemed no one else would... That being said... I did not enjoy or understand why poorly performing employees were catered to and often times defended by management. Lack of effort was seemingly accepted and more often than not tended to be the norm. Employees such as myself that wanted to retain customers through excellent service and great products were rarely recognized by anyone except customer reviews. Performing all tasks every day required more effort and time than a vast majority of the staff was willing to put forth. I pushed myself to make sure the next person doing my job was provided with as little to do as possible on the next shift so that customer service was their first and primary concern. Finishing my shift as quickly as possible to get a drink at the bar was not a priority of mine or any good employee. Accomplishing every duty of every shift, wether opening, closing or working a "rush" shift AFTER all of my customers were satisfied (or as close as the Baymont could get) was my goal. Period. Working both in the bar and in the kitchen meant I would gladly and regularly help out the kitchen even though I was on a bartending shift or vice versa if the situation called for such action. Doing extra things like picking up garbage in the parking lot on my cigarette breaks or fixing -
