A typical day of work consists of making shakes and scooping ice cream for customers that come into the shop after school, or after work. You will often work with families and students that come there either in the late afternoon, or after dinner (near closing time).
The management is very loose, and most of the training is done by coworkers; it is a very independent-focused job. If you need constant guidance, this is not the job for you! Most of the workers are high school aged, and are all-female.
The hardest part of the job is probably lifting the heavy tubs of ice cream, withstanding the cold temperature of the freezers, and scooping fresh, hard-packed frozen ice cream (watch out - your wrists are going to hurt after the first week!) The most enjoyable part of the job is that you can snack on ice cream and sit back as your dominant arm becomes ripped because of all that scooping!
It was a great place to work. I enjoyed working with fellow members.Management was also very helpful and cooperative. The smell of icecreams makes workplace enjoyable.
Great place to work part-time while still studying. Opportunities to develop customer service skills in a relaxed environment with friendly customers.
It is a good option as a first job as it teaches you important skills that can be used for other jobs in your future. You learn how to use the cash register, interact with customers and form efficient work habits.
People are always happy to come in for a treat, which makes this job very enjoyable and pleasurable dealing with customers. Sometimes its very stressful in the summer when they have big sales.
