Great for exercise, GREAT pay when you union... You better know someone that worked or is working there, very nepatistic... If you don't love everything and everybody in the world the senior union members will look down on you and have you out before probation is up

Wine Professionals! Avoid this company if you want to grow and learn and have a future in the industry!
No future in this company as they just hire Assistant Manager for the season! Yes, they hire this position every season so now you know the turnover!

Terrible work environment and culture and it surely will consume you! Wineries are operating based on nepotism and favouritism. If you have inner connections and good relationships with upper management, you don't have to sweat and will get promoted by sitting there and gossiping about colleagues who work hard.

If you are looking for a seasonal/ entry-level management job and learn about the worst human nature, give it a try! The salary and benefits are not the worst in the Niagara Wine Industry!

The culture is based on relationship rather than commitment and results.
However, what I like about Arterra is their Work/Life Balance and their Portfolio of products.

If you are looking for a company to learn and progress than think twice before joining!

Arterra pays well and has good benefits but poor management leads to a bad work environment. You will be pressured and/or blackmailed to work overtime And preference will be given to those that do. Proper work procedures are not followed here. Midnight shift has no supervisor or management present which leads to chaos.

Was Constellation Wines when I was there, Totally different company and employees now. All dept have been replaced.

No longer have any contacts that still work there. I would be unable to be fair as I do not know the current culture or company values.

The company is great for people who like to work solo and on weekend. You work with the liquor store to book appointments but its limited to working only thursday night, friday, saturday and sunday. Everyone was reeally friendly and great to work with just can only work weekends so leaves little time for family.

Job Culture
The company is going through a huge change and cleaning house; huge turn around of employees. They even fire people who come back from leave or have been with the company for decades.
Very little room for advancement. The only way you get a better position is if you got hired into it or a boss leaves.

There are some nice people that work there, but there are also people who will degrade you and make your time there miserable.

The benefits are good and they have company events, but the overall culture of the company is lacking because they don't know who they are due to the many company/owner changes.
Pros
free wine
Cons
rude coworkers, micromanaging bosses

Job Culture
When you plan to hire somebody to train them when you fully acknowledge they do not have all the required skill sets for the position, make sure you have a plan in place for on-boarding and ensure that the trainer is in fact training the employee properly and respectfully. The retiring employee was outright disrespectful to me and refused to train me, while lying to management that I was not willing to learn. You were given plenty of messages that the individual was doing this but decided to "take their word for it" belittle me for not complying with being treated poorly. Look at what it cost you. A potential future claim against Arterra in the works because you decided to try and sweep something under the rug. To the "retiring" worker I have only this to say: I am extremely appalled by your horrible and disrespectful behavior. You are 65 years old, a grown mature adult and trying to sabotage / destroy someone's potential future to save your spot a few more months at best. You are a completely disrespectful, rude and outright pathetic human being with how you treat others and you do NOT nor NEVER deserve your pension with how you acted. You are a complete disgrace to the community and the industry and you will only be remembered for destroying someone's future dreams for selfish desires. Also a pretty poor decision to be disrespectful and potentially discriminator to an employee, given your West Coast facilities are mostly in small towns or out of reach to resources. A lot of candidates in today's world do not drive or have good credit or spot on skill sets to the degree you - more...
Pros
Good environment in local wineries despite management
Cons

Very easy-going work culture, very balanced in allowing you to attend personal/family matters and trust you to get your work done. Everyone uses laptops, which makes it easy to work from home if you have to.

Also: personal wine allowance, wine tasting days, free bottle of wine on stat holidays.
Pros
Easy-going, free wine
Cons
You still have to work

Disorganized, slow to respond, fearful of change, minimal accountability, more concerned about the appearance of work being accomplished rather than actively engaging management to achieve results. Treat employees as expendable.
