Server (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON14 May 2019
I cannot stress enough how bad the management team is (apart from the one male manager). Managers pick favourites and don’t take real workplace issues seriously...I witnessed so many things just get slid under the rug. They hold no respect for their employees, nor care about their wellbeing.
The Ancaster Mill provides horrible hours with no work-life balance, and a low opportunity for advancement. The employee turnover rate is ridiculous, unsurprisingly. This is not a supportive, welcoming or happy workplace culture.

Beautiful venue and restaurant, long work hours
Concierge (Former Employee) –  Hamilton, ON3 July 2018
I enjoyed my time working at Ancaster Mill. I did find the staffing was a bit young and the work hours were quite long. Working on weddings as a conceirge can sometimes be very high stress and unpredictable.
Pros
Staff meals

Event Server (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON28 February 2018
The job itself is good, however the management there are the most arrogant people I have met. Also they have no idea what they're doing, they're like chickens running around with their heads cut off.

Great place, room for advancement, work hard and youll be rewarded.
Dishwasher/Prep Cook (Current Employee) –  Hamilton, ON5 August 2017
Ive worked here barely 4 months now and i have been promoted twice. I started at dishwasher and now im a private events cook. Some of the other dishwashers can be rather arrogant and sexist, but if you call them out they will stop. The location is beautiful and tipout is plentiful. (even though you only get it after 3 months)
Staff meal is kind of bland, but they only take off 2.5 a shift. (they make sure you eat too)

Cant say much about the waitstaff, but the kitchen is an amazing place to work.
Pros
Beautiful location, friendly people, room for advancement, helpful boss, easy time off
Cons
Long hours, little to no break time

A great team environment, everyone helps each other succeed, as well as building great relationships. Long hours, but very rewarding. Great management team, always helpful and understanding.

Banquet Server (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON17 March 2017
probably the worst place to work, 8-10 hour shifts with no breaks, your not allowed to sit down either. If you are a banquet server, you can't except tips and get paid minimum wage...Worst place to work, you don't even get paid for a training shift
Pros
nothing
Cons
everything

Pastry (Former Employee) –  Hamilton, ON14 March 2017
I worked at the Ancaster mill for a few months. You can expect long long looong days with little to no breaks. Staff meal is offered but you pay for it out of your pay checks automatically and most of the time its nasty. Management is rude and seem to care verry little about their employees. You can expect minimum wage with the expectation for a higher level of work.
Work there at your own risk.

Event Team (Current Employee) –  Ancaster8 January 2016
Long hours and depending on which location you work at you will slave away for this company and never receive any recognition. Their ancaster mill property has had more than a 60% turnover amongst staff since new management has taken over. If you're looking for crazy hours, no recognition and little to no perks, this is the place for you !!

Event Set Up Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Ancaster7 July 2015
typical day at work is fast paced and very detailed orientated. I learned how to mange time wisely and work well with a team. Management is always there when someone needed support, coworkers are amazing, always helpful, easy to communicate with. Hardest part of the job are the long hours, most enjoyable part of the job is the satisfaction it brings

depressing and draining place to work, I hated my life
Banquet Server, support staff (Former Employee) –  arrogantville26 February 2015
I did not think they were fair at all. They took off 30 cents off an hour , because they promise you a meal there but they don't even give you time to eat half the time. Also, one of the bosses is rude and arrogant.
Pros
it's not hard
Cons
the boss is arrogant and rude, their snobby people, don't even get min.wage, smells like fish

Server/Support/Valet (Former Employee) –  Ancaster, ON1 August 2014
The hours are great but you don't get paid what you should get paid and tips are withheld from you and never paid out unless you are a dining server. No breaks are given either so you work for 12 hours straight and have no time to rest. Overall a terrible place to work and if you are looking for job advancement don't work there.

Set up wedding events prior to the start of the event. I learned to work in a team environment. The hardest part of the job was the long shifts. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting staff meal.
