Constant learning and advancement of skills to become the best version of yourself.
Advisor / Sales Agent (Current Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 18 May 2019
A day in the office would begin with training classes for certain skills that need to be improved all the time. Training that is tailored to your needs and management support all new and rookie agents with whatever they need to become successful. Very supportive and fruitful environment for people to grow. Not a cut throat office where people are only there for themselves and out to beat each other.
Most enjoyable part of the job is enrolling families in our benefits and the feeling knowing that this family is protected for life whenever anything happens to them. Hardest part of the job is the discipline and motivation you have to have for yourself to grow. No one is pushing and checking on you every hour to see what you've done. You need to be a workhorse when no one is watching you and when no one is breathing down your neck about how much work you need to do.
Pros
Office supplies/expenses paid for

Amazing Experience.
Sales Representative (Current Employee) - London, ON - 24 April 2019
The definitive nature of American Income Life is the motivating culture that resides throughout the company that establishes a positive, energetic, driven framework for individual and company success.
What is most enticing part about working with AIL is the endless career advancement. Your income and promotions is performance based. The harder you work, the more you earn, the further your career advances. They provide you with all the necessary tools, training and resources you need in order to succeed; all you need to do is put in the effort.
The culture in the London office is a rare breed of family and professionalism. Everyone is very close, yet maintains focus and works well as a team.

Productiver work activity
Sales agent (Former Employee) - London, ON - 27 March 2019
This was a term of co-op for me to experience cold calling and outside sales. This was an unpaid position which made my experience different from the rest. Non-the-less, it was a great learning curve for my overall work capability and stability within my relationships with co-workers.

If you want opportunity over security
Sales agent (Current Employee) - Halifax Regional Municipality, NS - 1 November 2018
I have been working here a few months. I had a few friends who were enjoying their jobs and enjoying the work and making good money so I spoke to some of the managers and was hired. Its full commission and I am fine with that, I was looking for something that I could work hard and move ahead. I was sick of not advancing at my last place of work. If you do the work and follow the training you will succeed. Its perfect for me because I'm ambitious and want to make a lot of money, this for sure wouldn't be for everyone.
The management are very good at what they do. The top salesman in the whole company works at the same location. The work culture is fun and progressive.
Pros
great training and management
Cons
Not for everyone, gotta be ready to work

Potential employees need to do their due diligence
Agency Director but effectively a Sales Agent (Former Employee) - Burlington, ON - 26 July 2015
The company has a good business model by helping to provide insurance coverage for blue collar workers. The product offerings are scoped for the issues which affect union workers. Kudos.
However, a prospective employee needs to be wary of a few things.
Promotional literature talks about good income (and it is) provided that you sell at a certain level. Reading the fine print, the projections are based on a 50% fee sharing contract. When you are taken on, the fine print of the employment contract says 40%. So, when you back out the rate difference and you pay for your own car, cell phone and the like, your gross income before taxes is closer to $ 40k when the printed material focuses on over $ 80k.
While many are brought in as a typical sales agent, I was recruited at a higher level - branch manager. At contract time, I was in effect offered a standard entry level sales position with potential to work up to a branch manager.
These two events raise the question of the company's internal ethics as opposed to the visible outside persona.
I should note that the people treated me courteously.
Pros
Good people and good products
Cons
Misleading prospective compensation literaure and starting job titles

Hustle!
SALES AGENT (Former Employee) - Windsor, ON - 7 July 2015
There are two booking days a week. I was given a lot of support and motivation from the management team. The week is as busy as you want it to be, but the busier you are, the more money you'll make.
Pros
Staff, training programs, support
Cons
Entirely commission, driving expenses, cancelled policies, charge backs
