Insurance sale is not real good
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Halifax, ON - 22 August 2019
It is not a real job. No salary on it. You just make commission. They always make you feel like a garbage. The data they give you even 40 years ago. So it means you customer die!

Life Insurance Agent, Supervisor - Full Time (Former Employee) - London, ON - 21 August 2019
This revolves around how much you push insurance at families and how well you are trained to do so. Getting into people's houses with a free child safe kit/will kit and pushing them to decide right away. Then be ready for people to cancel & you have to pay back what you got paid
Pros
Got my life insurance license LLQP but that wasnt provided by the company
Cons
Awful management and huge amounts of wasted time

I think they made it seem so good, but really it wasn’t .
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 5 August 2019
They get you in the meetings, pumping you up and telling you how great the company is. Everybody working there is there for themselves and was not a friendly work environment
Pros
Get paid once a week
Cons
Take union dues from you every week, not a friendly place, poor leadership

great place to work and great people to work with
Insurance Agent (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 3 May 2019
I was pretty skeptical when I first took this job because it sounded like it was too good to be true. Yes I had to pay for my insurance license up front, but now I am a licensed agent. With the mentoring and the teaching culture that surrounds everything that they do not only have I learned to become a better agent I have become a better person. I also have the opportunity to mentor others and it is really fulfilling to know that I am helping other people more than I'm helping myself. There is a lot of hard work involved but at the end of the day it is always worth it
Pros
mentoring, great pay, making a difference
Cons
long hours, hard work

Great management and staff, very team oriented
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 18 March 2019
My manager at this company was fantastic. Unfortunately I couldn't handle making cold calls and wondering if I was getting paid week to week. This is a commission based job only, so if you are seeking job security look elsewhere. They offer really great benefits and it is great for someone looking for a competitive field.
Pros
Create your own work hours, great people to work with
Cons
No financial stability

Terrible
Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Surrey, BC - 11 March 2019
If you're looking for a family friendly job, this IS NOT IT.
You are required to do hours and hours of training with no pay and then they just toss you out there in the world on your own with minimal practical skills

good job. bad management
Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 11 February 2019
you are promised the world during hiring. Management is typical salesmen who can't tell the truth to save their lives. Advancement is not based on performance. It is based on kissing butts.
Pros
salary
Cons
management

Hard work will pay off
Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - London, ON - 29 January 2019
not what I expected, after paying for courses and license I saw what the job actually entails. lots of "cold-calling", independent, long hours, commission based.
Pros

Good stepping stone
Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 2 January 2019
Good stepping stone. Managers are very helpful in teaching you the little tricks in sales. Great place to learn and develop your own businesss. Lots of leads just have to make the sales.

Dont do it
Licenced Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - London, ON - 18 December 2018
You are responsible for getting your own clients through referrals etc.
You have to follow a script that you are required to memorize and you take your laptop to all appointments to do a presentation.
You will get calls from your team leader to check up on you.
Commission pay
I spent more money on expenses such as food and gas than I made, and I was doing pretty well so...basically it is not worth it.
Pros
Get to know about life insurance
Cons
Spend more money on expenses than you make in commission

Not Fantastic - Sales
Licensed Life Insurance Sales Agent (Sales) (Former Employee) - London, ON - 7 November 2018
Long hours 6-7 days a week, traveled 2 hours each way to location given to cover. leads generated by company were lacking as we were trying to sell funeral benefits to people who already had adequate coverage being retired GM employees

it was OK
Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Brampton, ON - 17 October 2018
Up in the air mostly, some very nice people just not what I had expected or hoped for. If you are a very independent go getter this would be for you, however it was just not a good fit for me. They do provide you with the guiltiness for and the coursed to complete the training.

Great experience
Licensed Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 14 September 2018
This company is a really incredible opportunity for the right person. If you are dedicated and personable and willing to really put yourself out there, there's potential for a lot of money. I unfortunately wasn't one of those people, but the atmosphere and work ethic is unlike any other. 10/10 would recommend to the right personality.

Insurance agenrt
life and accidental insurance agent (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 7 September 2018
100 % commission based operation.
very high turn over rate as for employment (usually less then 3 months with no income )
Very poor management support and training
Long Schooling and testing process with very little result ! this is definitely not a career by any means.

Flexible working hours / Leadership
Life Insurance Agent, Supervisor - Full Time (Current Employee) - London, ON - 22 August 2018
Excellent Leadership Environment! Good Company!
Training is good, good platform to a millionaire because of great residual and renewal income. The commission and WGB (Bonus) structure is profound and amazing.

Life Insurance Agent
Life Insurance Agent (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 17 July 2018
Not a job for everyone, you are promised a lot of things, go through insurance licensing at your own expense. Given pages and pages of sales script to memorize. Once all that is done, you are given about 20-40 leads for the month to work off of.
You can expect most of your leads to be recycled leads from people who have already had someone try to make a sales pitch to them, a bunch of numbers will be dead, and you will likely not be able to set up more then 1-2 appointments a week. Of the appointments you start with a 40% commission on ALP but you can expect virtually no pay until you have your sales script memorized verbatim, even then your pay is not guaranteed.
With a lot of time spent not getting paid you could eventually build a business off of this, gathering referrals to eventually create a clientele, however that could take years if at all and you can expect little to no pay and little to no referrals or sales off of the leads you are given, even if you become very very convincing at delivering their sales copy.
The real money working for this company is made by management, they earn income off recruiting people and get a % of the income from the people they hire. The majority of the people hired will turn over because it is very unlikely you can make a living off the sales for anything more then barely minimum wage if you work non-stop 80 hours a week. They hire people 4 days a week. It is possible however to make a living through AIL, a few people have done it within the company and have been very successful, but it is a very rare thing to see, it is usually -
Pros
Nice People at the meetings
Cons
Bad Pay unless you are extremely talented at sales, or get into mangement
