You've got to be able to memorize scripts and act your part
Agent (Former Employee) - British Columbia - 24 September 2023
You're expected to show up for trainings but you don't get paid for it. You're given scripts to memorize and then you make cold calls to try to get a sit for a meeting. Then you "play your part" . Try to sell. Or upsell.
Pros
No pros unless you're an excellent actor or good at mimicking.
Cons
You don't make a sale, you don't get paid. All your time put in, you're not paid.

The whole thing is dishonest. Really not a good place.
Agent (Former Employee) - Mount Pearl, NL - 3 July 2019
Surprisingly they are rated much better than one would expect. Pyramid scam. They expect you to get your friends to come to work and then you both make money of the friends. Build a pyramid. They are not honest when they hire you. Very easy to get caught up in the brainwash tactics.
Pros
None
Cons
Not honest

Read before you work here!
Career Agent (Former Employee) - Canada - 2 July 2019
I began my journey with AIL being told I would make 40-60k per year or more depending on how much work that you put into it.
The job originally sounded appealing because they preach that you will have work/life balance and that "family comes first". I was looking to work for a company that has a family culture. However that is completely NOT the case. To rewind I had originally applied on a job recruiting website and was called a day or two later to schedule an interview. I showed up to the interview and was surprised to see that there were 20+ other candidates. They stated that they were running behind so I waited about 1 hour before sitting down with the person interviewing me. After the initial interview if they liked you they herd you into another room for a "competitive interview" which turned out to just be them telling you how awesome AIL is and how it will change your life and how the opportunity is endless. It was not an interview at all just the head manager of that office telling you how lucky you are to be "chosen" for the competitive interview, videos about the company basically brainwashing you into thinking you are stupid if you don't join. I ended up being there for about 3 hours and wasted a majority of my day sitting around waiting for the "next step". I ended up being chosen to move forward and was told that I would need to purchase a Life Insurance License (over $230) and had to complete it within 2 weeks or they would not pay for my Provincial exam (Over $100). I rushed to complete it and was told that during that time I also had to be present at the -

Fun workplace, flexible hours, good pay.
Agent (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 18 June 2019
I've been working with the company for over a year now and have learned ALOT when it comes to sales. They have amazing training and leaders that are there to help you any time of the day. Great paying job if you're willing to work hard. Amazing office culture as well, everyone helps each other out and it kinda feels like family. Fantastic benefits.
Pros
Good pay, excellent benefits, great culture
Cons
Weird hours. Commission only.

Great place to work, but it is NOT easy. As with anything you get paid what you put in. Sometimes long hours, but you control your schedule.
You get paid what your worth by setting your own schedule and the amount of time you work. This expecting an easy ride might as well look elsewhere. If it was easy everyone would do it. Those that have a great work ethic and are willing to put the time in, will do very well. Those that don’t, well won’t. As with any job, you don’t work, you don’t have a job
Pros
Great management, paid is high, benefits are amazing, set your own schedule and targets
Cons
Major self discipline

glad I took the chance
Agent (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 14 May 2019
Applied to the company after seeing how well a family member was doing. I was skeptical at first, but now being a licensed agent and out in the field it all makes sense. It is not as easy as I thought it would be, it requires a lot of hard work, and especially at the beginning some fairly long hours. More importantly the people within the office, management and mentors make all the difference in the world and will help you succeed in any way they can.
Pros
Financial freedom, amazing culture, incredible mentors
Cons
Hard work, sometimes long hours

Some long hours, but worth it for the pay. Requires dedication and ability to manage emotional up's and downs

It is app to use to make the work-life balance but implementing some good time management skills. You definitely need to be organized, self-motivated, and eager to always learn.

A great next career!
Agent (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 20 April 2019
I was employed in the industrial sector for 35 years. I worked extremely hard, but was limited in how far I could go, based on a very competitive work environment. Compounded with daily stress of the work atmosphere, I was very much ready to retire and seek other opportunities.
I am very excited about the opportunity and potential that AIL Edmonton is providing. The management is both supportive and positive! The team feels like family as everyone is there to support each other. Yes, you do have to work hard; but through hard work, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn / teach, the opportunity is truly unlimited.
The products offered by the company are there to help families, and you feel good about delivering a product which provides this.
Best of all, I can work under my own schedule. The company fully endorses you building your own team and provides lots of training to help you reach your goals.
Excited about the potential with AIL Edmonton!
Pros
Positive work place with lots of opportunity!
Cons
Should work at least one day of the weekend, but you control your schedule.

Truly Amazing Opportunity
General Agent (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 19 April 2019
If you are the type of person that likes to get paid what you're worth, willing to work hard, and gain the skills you need to be successful in life, this is the perfect career for you. If you are looking for a 9-5, clock in clock out, hourly wage position to just do your "job", this isn't for you.
This is a career that changed my life completely for the better. It has opened up doors I have never thought were possible. This is an opportunity to change your life and help change others' lives.
I get to work with my best friends every single day and make a crazy amount of money doing it.
Don't think twice, just do it!
Pros
Incredible people, fantastic money
Cons
Absolutely nothing

Amazing opportunity
Agent (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 18 April 2019
Working at American Income is an opportunity unlike any other.
You are given the opportunity to shape and mould your career for yourself and chose how quickly you advance and how much income you make. An excellent training program and support system of managers and mentors ensure that, even if you are new to the industry, you have all the tools and resources to be successful.
This is not a job for everybody. With the amount of self-direction and schedule you need to be able to hold yourself to account for the amount of hard work and effort that you put into learning and executing the systems and processes. If you can’t hold yourself responsible for putting in an honest full day’s work, then you won’t be successful. The only limitations on your opportunity are those that you place on yourself.
Pros
Family atmosphere, flexible schedule, great pay, great product that helps and protects families
Cons
Schedule is also limited by availability of clients, at minimum some evening and weekends are required

Supervising Agent (Current Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 16 April 2019
Amazing family culture. This company with the management team has helped me grow professionally and personally. Everyone helps you to reach your goals and dreams. Would recommend for anyone looking for flexible hours who is willing to work hard to achieve what they want in life.
Pros
Great work environment. Constant learning
Cons
Not for everyone, laziness and being comfortable won’t help you succeed

Truly opportunity unlimited
AGENT (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 15 April 2019
All you need is a great attitude, willingness to be coached to succeed, willingness to put in the time and effort to succeed and you'll go a long way with this company. The managers are there to support you along the way , the show you the ocean full of fish and the right fishing rods ... you just have to go get the fish! I truly enjoy working here.
Pros
You are your own advocate and leader

good product, poor work environment
Agent in training (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 1 March 2019
Long long days 10 am till 10 pm minimum. 6 days/week.
Learned that making money is not as important as my integrity.
Leaders here have zero people skills.
Good at first. Then honestly found most were bullies.
Hardest part of the job- beginning learning curve.
Most enjoyable part- talking to people and getting them what they need.
I was humiliated in front of the entire office and told by management I was making a 'bad life choice' (asked to not go to training as I had been crying- training was 1hr and repeatable)
Pros
possibility of good money
Cons
long hours- no integrity
